Sailing Among Oil riggs in the North Sea Ep 59

Oil rigg alley, they are all around us, not closer than 500 m, but we keep well away. Beautiful sun set, nice sailing, and fishing boats in the dark. Sailed around Fair Island to have some wind in the sails and Jeanette tried to bribe Fredrik to sleep longer. The wind died and we arrive to Scotland and Inverness.
We might not have the best film quality, but it is authentic.

He is a very spoiled man 😂 and I think there was not a bribe big enough to keep him out of the warm and cozy bed. But sometimes he is open for bribes , so better luck the next time 😂

Hi. How do u prevent get fishing net or rope on yours saildrive? I got net not far from fredrikstad Norway and I lose my propeller. Thanks

That is a really good question. So far so good, we have not caught anything in the prop during our 7 years of cruising. Don’t know if we have been close to any fishing nets, but for sure we have sailed over a few fishing buoy. So far we have been lucky, and on our previous boat we had a folding prop. Guess that help a little bit when sailing. On this boat we have a feathering propp and a rope cutter on the shaft. Guess the simple answer is luck.

I think that entering Scottish waters and flying the Scottish flag but not the flag of the UK is a bit like a British boat going to Gotland and flying the Gotland flag but not the Swedish one.

Seven years ago we were told that the Scottish like you more if you fly their flag when in Scotland 😊 So far so good 😀 Guess it would upset one or two Englanders 😱 It is the same now when we are in Brittany, we fly their flag and not the French, and they are also nice to us 😊 Hope we have not offended the King too much and that they will let us in the next time! As for the Gotland, you would be loved by the ”Gutes” if you would fly there 🐑 flag. And the rest would not care, even if they would notice, which they probably wouldn’t 😳
