Hey nice Video, clocked many sea miles sailing my Boomarang 20 around Port Phillip Bay, great spot, cuts up rough in a SW blow

Thanks for the comment. The bay does get choppy at times, as you will well know! The Boomarang 20s are great boats for it though, aren't they!

Sorry for the late response! Yes, certainly a great boat for the job. And I hope you are able to get out there aplenty! There is always something special that happens each time you go out.

Just wondering if you are using the motor or the tiller to steer when motoring? I have a Cole 23 which has a very high transom and I can’t use the motor handle to steer as I can’t reach it. I am a bit concerned about motoring into tight areas at slow speed using tiller steering. I am considering a link rod to connect the motor to the tiller to give me better slow speed handling but I will lose some of the rudder deflection by doing so.

Giday, Thanks for the comment. It is Tim, my friend's, boat, so I am not so familiar with it. We only used the engine for literally about 1 minute for the whole trip. I think Tim is able to use the tiller mostly but is able to turn the engine when required, to enable steering with both the engine and rudder. I have a Careel 18. The rudder hits the propeller if I steer too hard, which limits steering in very confined spaces, although I can turn both at the same time. It is a tricky situation you have. I think the majority of steering control would be with the rudder, even at slow speed, so I would be hesitant to connect the engine with the rudder if that limited rudder range. It is a situation not often encountered where such tight situations are encountered, so I would not worry too much. Try chatting with other Cole 23 sailors. Good luck! See you out there!!!
