I just noticed that the subtitles on some parts didn't export. I added them afterward and they should appear automatically. If not, turn on the subtitles.

Nice vid Jakob … good to see you and your old man as we say here in the Uk …having a fun time together before you set of on your circumnavigation… Sorry to hear about the collision with the Buoy of the coast of France..best to get it out of the way on the beginning of your adventure …like I said …the main thing is your still here to tell the story …hope the repairs are going well and eventually you can continue what you have planned … take care my dear friend and stay safe and continue to make wise decisions …🫡

Amazing video! My questions though are your decisions regarding voyage planning. Going out of IJmuiden you could have known the weather. Same for dem helder. Don’t leave when the tide is against you. Good lessons to learn but make sure you are prepared for the ocean voyage where mistakes are much more costly.
@martinpacher458Күн бұрын
Of course you're right. That's how it should be. In this case, we planned to start against the current. We also knew the weather. It was supposed to be a test. Which also showed that the boat and the crew could handle it.i am the second on the boat, his old man.😉

You did a tour in den Helder (one of the most uninteresting cities in nl) why not leave earlier and picking the ebbing tide. Marsdiep is known for it’s very strong current. Alternative for sailing against the tide would be via de Waddenzee

When was this.? You went out against 30 to 40 knots leaving Ijmuiden? Thats not ok... Are you an experienced sailor?
@jakoblangsailing3 күн бұрын
About half the wind was forecasted by several weather models
@CorM13 күн бұрын
@@jakoblangsailing Most of the windforcasts don't mention that at sea you sometimes can add 1 bft. cause due to atmosferic pressure that at sea is higher than on land! So i allways add 1 bft when they say 5, its mostly 6! But i like your video and vlog cause i also saw my Yacht :)

8:29 the canals of Amsterdam where built in the 7th century?? Almost, you are only off by a thousand years, but who is counting. but it is much more worrying that you let yourself be surprised by the weather on the North Sea. Skipper; there is no reason why that should have happened to you! Especially as a solo sailor you should not let yourself be surprised by the weather. especially not when you have up-to-date weather reports available
@jakoblangsailing3 күн бұрын
I meant 17th century, but pronounced that badly ;) The only way removing the risk of getting hit by a local weather front is not leaving port at all. You can't really avoid those. But yeah, we reacted too late and had too much sail up when it hit us. The night after Ijmuiden about half of the wind was forecasted by several weather models
