Hey! Thanks so much, we are DEFINITELY going to be posting some refit videos soon... we almost have our V Berth dialed in so once its all put together we will post a video. You can see Chris busting his butt on our Instagram story to get it varnished! We may be young, but we are old souls ;) Thanks for following us, we always appreciate your likes and comments! Cheers!

RAN did that PAC trip you mentioned two or so years ago, but went to Hawaii after going Through the Panama Canal, then up ⬆️ through Alaska, down the Canadian waterway, Vancouver island and down the west coast of the USA, to Mexico then sold RAN #1...

Thank you for your response to my question. I’m new to your blog. My reference to “Sailing Uma” was they came up with a very clever remodel to their head, and it so happens you were planning your own head redo. Stay safe out their.

Ha, right as he was saying "everything was teak" I was thinking at least the decks aren't teak!
@sailingavocet6 жыл бұрын
I know right! Chris removed the teak decks on the family Mason 43. Only need to do that job once... So when we bought our boat, we made sure it had no teak decks. Someone did a really good job removing the decks from Avocet, the nonskid patterns are perfect but a little too slippery. We are looking into Kiwi Grip, but not sure yet.

@@sailingavocet I had questions about your limited food supply and whats to eat on board, but with further investigation I found your food vids yall really know how how to enjoy life huh?
@sailingavocet4 жыл бұрын
@@adrianadames8256 :) there really isnt a "limited" food supply, for example: right now we are in a marina so we can drive our cars to the store and come home to stock our fridge- just like on land! If we are going for an extended passage (meaning days on water) we stock up just as if we were going camping. for the most part we are always next to land so we can dinghy to shore and get supplies when need be, but we manage our food just like we did when we lived on land: we shop for the month and plan out meals. It saves time, money and sanity! :)

I’m inspired by a whole group of you young people, and your adventures at sea, and the upgrades you make to your “sail homes”. I love to follow your exploits and those of your contemporaries. Do you ever get remodel inspiration from watching other like minded sailing couples; ie: “Sailing Uma”? Just curious!
@sailingavocet4 жыл бұрын
Dean Hueter hi Dean! Thanks for checking out our channel! We actually pull a lot of our inspirations from Lyle Hess designs (thus our obsession with bronze and teak) as well as other boat designs, not necessarily other youtube sailors.

Having started a binge session, this answered most of my questions. I do have one question that I haven't seen in your video library (I don't do insta)...is there a chance you could do a vlog tour of Avocet? I think I understand the layout, but not really. As for the question of "Why do you live on a boat?", I would simply answer, "Doesn't everyone???" If I could, I certainly would...but I'm afraid that my wife would likely throw me overboard. haha Oh, and one more...Where are the two of you originally from?

What soaps do you guys use at sea , to remain environmentally friendly ?

Hi there! We use Dr. Bronners for most things- even dishes. It’s a versatile hemp Castile soap that is rated one of the best for the environment.

A 37 foot boat is not a small boat. U have 4 foot more than the other boat u were looking at. It’s not that much. I consider. A 27 foot or less. A small boat
@sailingavocet4 жыл бұрын
She is medium sized, 30 or less is classified as "small" and 50'+ is "large"... of course boats like the Hans Christian 33' that slam a big boat interior into a small boat are incredible. For 2 people living aboard with a cat and professional camera equipment for work we have yet to find a vessel smaller than 40 feet that oculd accommodate all of our necessary belongings
@tugsoutdoorprod4 жыл бұрын
Sailing Avocet I completely understand the camera gear. I filmed professionally for television for eight years. , of course it had nothing to do with sailing , I went from 34 ft fifth wheel to the 37ft cutter. , I do love the sailboat life. And for me this is plenty of space . This is my first one. I settled on a 37 foot that was in great shape. Versus. More with more work.
@sailingavocet4 жыл бұрын
thomas godfrey haha then you get it! The C stands, lights, camera bodies, lenses, audio equipment.... between that and our living necessities we had to find the *right* boat 😂 we actually came across a Fantasia 35’ and if we had found it before our Avocet theres a good chance we would have bought her. Such a cool design and the 6’5 head room was a major benefit lol! We totally agree with the more boat more work, but it also depends on the boat. My brothers HC33 is much more upkeep than our Avocet. Stoked to hear about your boat! Are you documenting your travels?

Sailing Avocet Well I’m thinking about it , this is my first sailboat, I was not interested in anything any smaller , go big or go home kinda thinker . Lol. I like to hear people’s story. That shares the same passions , photography. Videography is of a lifelong passion. I have practiced since. I was a child. The sailboat however was just a dream. Something I never imagined that would happen , my boats name is. Work’n man blues , Yes after the song. My life story. Lol I. On it now. Fighting hurricane sally.
