aquatictn yes we do try our best to! But frankly Bahama Cays are on the whole pretty quiet. Not too many tourists and the yachts seem to only gather in certain places. Very easy to be anchored alone. And when other yachts are around they are very respectful. Probably because they are mostly livaboards and not charter yachts, who usually like to party all the time.

You are a very lucky Captain, being stuck with 2 beautiful ladies - the Admiral and Cloudy. Fair winds.

SV Red Rocks haha, good idea :) next time maybe. Though the locals, who were previously ruled from London, might not find it so humorous. That said, at times like this I’ll bet all these small independent islands sorely wished they were still supported by their previous European rulers and economy. Here in Cayman, no one has to worry, because the are still British.

So captain when cloudys on auto pilot and your up on the bow taking pictures has anything ever gone wrong and you had to run back to the helm to save the day?
@SailCloudyBay4 жыл бұрын
brad, to be honest, we tend to “fly” Cloudy like a commercial aircraft. We only generally hand steer on take off and landing :). And I think a lot of cruisers do that. It’s one of the reasons I don’t quite understand the trend to have huge ugly panels of instruments around the wheel - we rarely sit behind the wheel. Even in harbours and tight spaces I find I can track Cloudy much smoother by pressing +/-1 and +/-10 deg on the autohelm. When I’m on the helm she goes all over the place!! That said, I can hand steer if I need to. But I’d be bored after a few minutes, especially at night. As for running back from the bow to grab the helm, in 4 years I’ve never had anything like that happen.

Yes our relatively low views and subscribers reflect that we are not a T&A channel. We really cant understand how some "sailing" channels over expose their partners bodies to the world just to get more viewings. Thats not us and we dont want to encourage that type of viewer. I mean, who wants to see me (Glen) 1/2 naked! We want the viewing pleasure to be the sailing, the sounds of nature, travel views of amazing places and an insight to how it can be to make the jump from being a landlubber and following a dream.

Always amazed that these sailors ignore basic safety measures. "I'm INVINCIBLE" (not just this couple, but others and in more challenging conditions, with the vessel on autopilot....)
@SailCloudyBay4 жыл бұрын
Each to their own. There is no law we need to abide to. And trust me, when it gets rough, we do wear PFDs and harnesses. But please try wearing those around your house for 24 hours and see how it feels. It does make more sense to be an absolute ruling when you only use your boat occasionally ( when you are not used to the movement) and/or have guests on board that you are responsible for. Also, Cloudy is a big boat with very smooth movement compared to other more twitchy yachts. Scale that up ..... and ask yourself why safety gear is not mandatory on cruise liners? Non-sailor type passengers learn over the rails on those ALL the time.
