Hello Scott and Laurie - nice to meet you on the chairlift today. Look forward to watching your vlogs, and hope you can get back to your boat sooner rather than later. Brad

Scott. I happened to be talking to a couple of sailors a week or so ago at restaurant; sharing bs because it's fun. Anyway, we were talking about favorite sailing channels and Off The Starboard Hull came up. So.......you're famous! Good going. Now what? lol. Keep up the clips......I know it's a pain, but some of us are currently living vicariously so maybe consider it like bench-sailor welfare or something. (I crack myself up.....) Capt Kaz s/v Catatude.

Glad to hear that we were mentioned as a favourite sailing channel. We will be consistent with the clips while we are here in NZ as the wifi is good. We have some “nuts and bolts” videos in the works as well as lots of video footage of Swarrow, Niue, Tonga and NZ. What topics do you enjoy most? Cheers

@@offthestarboardhull8913 Hey Scott. I'm sitting in Maryland ducking and diving winter. I don't suppose you'd care for a weather report. Maybe bring back some memories. To your question, for me, I like all the wrench stuff and all the mental gyrations of doing getting it done. I think your stuff is interesting because you actually have skills and you're sort of "matter of fact" about all of it. Also you and Laurie never perform for the camera. Just a couple of retirees that decided to make a right hand turn and do something non traditional and adventurous. I can imagine how it all went. "Hey honey lets do something neat. How about sailing around the world". To beers and a gin and tonic later and you're gone! Pioneers for God's sake! Like John Wayne........lol. Good stuff Scott. Ken

Yes, the “nuts and bolts” videos seem to be the most popular. Pioneers? There are so many retired cruisers out here with similar stories and many of them are engineers, pilots and mechanics. It is a road well travelled and a rewarding lifestyle. We feel pretty ordinary in this group. Thanks for your kind words. Cheers

Hey, you are from my home city, London Ontario! Glad you enjoy the videos. Do you know any of my family there, the Forceys or Vanderhoevens? Cheers,
@kimberlyfreeman62415 жыл бұрын
Vanderhoevens sound familiar. I'm outside of London in Dutton,off 401 heading to Windsor. Talked to you before , my husband and iI are looking for a cat to live aboard. Haven't settled on one yet. We will be retiring soon.

Are you looking to buy a cat in Florida, Caribbean or the med? That will be where you likely start your journey. Let us know when you settle on your cat. Laurie

We've been looking everywhere. I will for sure let you know. We were looking at power cats but have since changed out minds.Hubby had a small sail boat when he was younger and now feel a sail cat would be better for us. Take care .

Nothing is more satisfying than a calm, quiet spinnaker run in the sun. Having to rely on a motor all the time wouldn’t be my thing either. Though the costs are the same if you take into account sail repair and rigging costs.

If you don’t mind me asking; why dry the coconut 🌴🥥 🌴,” Copra”?
@offthestarboardhull89135 жыл бұрын
I had to look it up, haha. It is dried to make coconut oil which is extracted from the copra (dried coconut). Cheers

I love your videos. BUT! you need a gimball. (yes really) Keep sailing!
@offthestarboardhull89135 жыл бұрын
Ahhhhh. We actually have a few gimbals but as you see, have not used them often. For Christmas we have two new cameras, the Osmo Pocket and the Hero 7. Both are much more stable than the Hero 6. You will see them in our videos starting in later New Zealand footage. We will also do a video comparing them. The difference is astounding. Cheers
