I must say, you have the most authentic sailing channel that I watch. No drama, no clickbait, no stress. Awesome sailing, and exploring of the islands, all of which we get to tag along to see. You’re always smiling and have a positive attitude. It’s so foreign to see these days, it lifts me up!! Can’t wait till I’m out there sailing living the dream as well, 2 more years. Fair winds my friends!!

I might have missed it… but what 80Lb did you move or remove the bow?

2 episodes back, we cut off the first 80 feet of rusty chain. It's a pound a foot. In real time, we've actually purchased new chain and went with 150 instead of 180. So, only took off 30 lbs as a compromise between weight and wanting more chain.

@@Funonholidaywhat size chain do you carry?I was thinking of reducing that as well. Maybe solution is to keep extra chain down bellow and attach extra with shackles when you know it's gonna be bad. I was thinking going with 150 and 150 feet of line.

@lonestaradventures8838 we ended up going with 150 feet on the new chain. We have 200 feet of line spliced to that. We very rarely anchor anywhere where we put out more than 120' or so of rode. Mostly we anchor where we put out about 90'. Having the 180 feet of chain that we had for so long was definitely over kill for US east coast, Bahamas, and eastern Caribbean.

The chain size is 5/16"

That's good to know. I thoughtt that 200 chain was overkill for us as well. There is always the spliced line to apply more scope.
