Here is Chapter 1 of Sailing Around the Norwegian Sea!
This episode covers the sail from my hometown Haugesund and all the way up to Værøy in incredible Lofoten. Dream away while we visit all the beautiful islands and sliding slowly through the archipelago of Helgelandskysten. This is the Norwegian coast at its best, believe me!
Next video, Chapter 2, will cover the trip from Lofoten and the 4 days of sailing out to the volcanic island of Jan Mayen.
Tons of work has been laid down to create this, and the upcoming videoes, and I love every minute of it! Any support is very welcomed for future productions.
Hope you enjoy!
Stay strong ;)
Erik

Man this video came just at the right time for me. Currently I'm sitting at home with a covid infection, just dreaming of setting sail again. Im 21 years old and last spring I traded my 22ft sailing boat for an 30ft one. Spent whole summer fixing her up and eventually did my first trip at sea: crossing the English Channel with good friends. It's the content like this that keeps inspiring me to work hard to enjoy the good things. Erik, I hope to be able to make adventures like yours some day!

@@cornelisvanderbent2092 Actually feeling ill. They say it doens't hit us younger people that hard, but in my opinion that's not true. Of course, everyone experiences it differently and while I indeed never had the idea that the situation was getting out of control, the virus hit me hard. Spent over a week straight out sleeping, too tired to even watch a series or read a book. Right now I'm feeling a bit more fit, but still cannot do stuff longer than an hour straight. Next to that there's the blocked nose and coughing, but in my opinion that's only annoying, not more than that. The worst next to the fatigue was definitely the the sore back... Turn's out your immune system is basically tearing down your back muscles whilst it is trying to tear down the infected cells, which causes immense muscle pain on a level I had never experienced before. People saying 'it's just a fever' clearly haven't experienced it yet (I was one of those people as well!) as it is really something different. True, it probably won't kill you, but puts a big dent in your physique.

Tusen Takk Erik for allowing the WORLD to see and share a bit of the Norwegian coastline. The spires of Lofoten are possibly the most wonderful scenery anywhere on the planet. Also thanks for letting us meet your beautiful Mom! As I told you earlier, my wife and family are from Tælavåg, just north of your home, and Randi's father was lighthouse keeper at Marstein for many years before his death, so thanks for the quick look at the Bergen light. 99 percent of the videos of the Norway coast are taken from the decks of Hurtigruten boats, so getting the close-in views of some of these small coastal communities is invigorating to me and will last a thousand years to show our future Earthlings how Vikings of the year 2020 mapped their course and set sail for the great unknown out in that dark forbidding ocean called The Norwegian Sea! You are living my dream Erik....and I'm sure your sailing videos create vicarious inspiration for all who watch them here! When do we get the next installment????

Erik, As a new supporter, I thank you for the horizons you are opening. After a life of racing sailboats in New England and the Pacific Northwest, in my 70th year I have transitioned now to a small motor cruiser to continue to explore the seas and islands of the northwest. Your excellent videos bring great memories of both easy and hard passages and shared experiences with my crews where bonds created in times of stress now last a lifetime. As an architect and expat Dane, I would be very interested in more cruising amongst the many islands with little villages perched on the coastline. Mange Tak for what you do.

Erik, great -|--) tattoo on your hand. Contessa 35 is such a wonderful vessel and perfect for this adventure. Nice heavy displacement, good size ballast and low cap ratio. Couldn't ask for a safer boat but you do seem to push your Contessa to the limit! You make it obvious that this should be an Olympic event!

To avoid losing drones in the future, buy pool noodles, cut them up, and firmly tape them to the legs underneath. In the case that it does take an unexpected plunge, it will float instead of sinking, and allow for you to retrieve it. If you apply a waterproofing product(such as CorrosionX) to the drone escs/controller, it will fair much better in the marine environment. Unfortunately, there is no way of properly waterproofing the camera unless it is already waterproof(such as with a gopro waterproof case). Great videography and sailing as usual!
