Come with us on a squally sail to Huahine, we'll show you around the idyllic island before we get caught out by an unexpectedly boisterous pass into Raiatea. Enjoy!

Nice places for the scrapbook. These last few chapters give me a mixture of sadness and indirect joy. Sadness for a stage that ends; and joy (for you guys) because every ending is the beginning of something new. 😉 See you. 👋 👋

I put a foam luff in my headsail great for taking that bag out of the midle , I see they are use multiple ropes instead of foam now as they dont crush after time , Im a real fan of the staysail so good to lay a hull with to ( Get some sleep) & if it can be made to self tack all the better , See you in NZ - fair winds .

When we cruise as a family, after every crossing our 13 year old son at the time would fry eggs just like you did. Great show. We should be there next year

Thanks for the info on the inner forestay, just don’t stop there, would love more info on head connection, sheeting, and do you have runners👍
@sailingbacchushome944
@sailingbacchushome944 3 жыл бұрын
No runners, as it connects quite high (within 10% of the masthead, which a Rigger told me is the magic number, above which you need runners). The termination is a fitting by a Danish company called BlueWave, see here - bluewave.com.au/product/rope-forks/

Collision regs - Rule 13 - Overtaking (a) Notwithstanding anything contained in the Rules of Part B, Sections I and II, any vessel overtaking any other shall keep out of the way of the vessel being overtaken.

You are correct; however, the overtaken boat should maintain its course and speed. Sounded as if the cat fell off a bit while being overtaken.
@paulf897
@paulf897 3 жыл бұрын
@@jimb6208 The stand on vessel must keep its course and speed, however, rule 17 states that it does not relieve the give way vessel of her obligation to keep out of the way. If the stand on vessel was falling off the wind whilst trying to maintain course and speed, the overtaking vessel should factor that in when overtaking. The stand on vessel can make an ordinary and proper manoeuvre in the course of navigation, which could include needing to deviate course a little due to a wind shift, which the overtaking vessel should factor in and give sufficient seaway. The stand on vessel shouldn't tack or gybe into the path of the overtaking vessel, but the overtaking vessel should leave sufficient room to make the manoeuvre. From the video it looks like Bacchus gave way, which was the correct thing to do.

Gday guys. First heard of Huahine when Dr David Lewis sailed there on "Rehu Moana" many moons ago, with his family. Have enjoyed the few episodes I've seen since subbing. Btw I'm available as page boy for your wedding, if the position is still available. Lol. Best wishes for the season and hope 2021 is a better year for us all. Take care.

Hi guys love the vids. I have a similar boat, was curious about what electronic autopilot and the setup you have on your boat. I would love to upgrade from the wheel pilot i currently have which sucks. Anyways happy sailing, keep on living the dream and we’ll continue living it through you👍

Cheers Alen. We have a Raymarine EV1 Autopilot, we fitted it new before we left in 2019 but early on in our trip decided we needed a wind vane and it was the best decision we made. We went for a Hydrovane and couldn’t recommend them enough, the product itself is great and the after sale service is so fantastic!

@@sailingbacchushome944 I could not agree more regarding the wind vane. However these units are for a long passages, which sadly I never do. Constantly hopping around doing day trips an electric auto pilot I think it’s much more adequate. My only apprehension in upgrading is the lack of space between the floor and steering quadrant reason why i wad curious as to how you did it. Marry Christmas guys

Hi Guys... we have really enjoyed following your adventure from the UK and half way around the world... you always seem to pitch your vlogs 'just right' and your sailing decisions at 'common sense' level. I would be interested in hearing your views and opinion about your Beneteau 36. How did she perform? What would you do different? What additions would have helped? Would you select this brand, style and size of boat again? Thanks, Happy Christmas and good luck.
@sailingbacchushome944

Hey Andi! Thanks for following. There were a lot of naysayers about us choosing a production boat to do a half-circumnavigation but we weren’t the first and certainly won’t be the last. We were so impressed by our boat and would absolutely choose that model and size to do again. Of course there was only 2 of us so the space was just right, perhaps if you were a family you would need some more. Installing the wind vane was one of the best decisions we made, basically like having a third crew member who never slept, didn’t ever eat your food, was quiet and barely ever stuffed up. Our hefty solar panel was also a great addition and we never had an issues with power. Life would have been a little easier with an inflatable dinghy but we do love our wooden one and the fact she fits under the boom is a massive bonus (the babystay on the 361s makes it hard to fit a decent inflatable on the front deck) umm what else can I say? I think if you maintain yo boat well and have good systems then these boats are perfect for trade wind cruising adventures. Not sure we’d take her into the roaring 40’s but she was pretty perfect for us. Hope this helps.
