Something like this happened to me a few years ago. I was standing on the parking lot of my small hometown in southern germany. Then i heard a roar from above. When i looked up, it was a real ME-262. First i didn't believe my eyes nor ears, but then i remembered: Some engineers, i think from Boeing had rebuild two of them. And one of these was on its way to the Berlin airshow for a display. Sadly i got not the time to take some fotos of it.

In 2018, I and my son saw this ship sail in to Maine around Rockland. When the ship came in, so did the fog. We waited 5 hours to see this ship, hoping it wasn't going to rain to hard. Never rained but the fog got thicker. Finally, with sail down, we saw the ship quietly appear from the mist. It was just like a movie! It docked along side of us. I helped tie it off. We took some pictures then headed home. I held on to the starboard side rail with my son. I was so proud of this ship they built. My ancestors... their ancestors must have been proud of them as I was!

This is so awesome. My Maori ancestors were mariners too and I have a huge appreciation for those cultures who's ancestors were mariners. I have always had an appreciation for the Vikings because of their all conquering spirit and physical abilities on the battlefield. What a great effort by the crew and all those behind the scenes to build this beautiful viking ship and then sail it to New York. Well done. Great effort and very inspirational. Your Viking Ancestors will be smiling down on you all and that wonderful ship from the heavens. Great to see your culture is also being kept alive by the great traditional boat building skills you have too. @@credinzel6996 I'm afraid sallhame had it (mostly) right, they did sail with shields, but usually in troop transport function, where they were going into battle. Your reference to the Bayeaux Tapestry was misunderstood. William was the King of Normany (an originally Norse tribe settlement) and their shipbuilding history is one with the Norse tradition. Hence the portrayal of Norse, and in this instance, viking (which was a Norse term for raiders), ships; and the showing of shields on the troop transports. Remember, we're talking about 1066 here. In any passive transport or trading voyage, shields were never shown on the gunwales. Hope this helps.

I am 67,. At 13, I built a viking ship of just 15 inches from balsa planking for a history project. I was fascinated with Viking history. I did win the top history ribbon. I would love to have spent a day aboard, I am too old for much more. Thanks for presenting all the videos on the build and the sailing. I am an artist by nature and carved a magnificent dragon head for it and painted as fierce as I could. I had a row of round shields down each side and ores at each position. Yes to both not so stupid questions. They all ate and slept on board, but not under the tent. They took up deckboards (designed to be taken up) and curled up in the space beneath. Snug, but not really comfortable. Or if the weather was fine, they could just sleep on the deck. The tent was never up while sailing. I went on board here in NYC and asked all the same questions.

Well Vikings were the first Europeans to go to America, so this isn't the first time this has happened :P

Thing is, we dont know where the natives came from, they could have come from europe. And Vikings barely reached america, since they where mostly in newfoundland wich is not mainly a part of america.

Whilst there have been examples, it's unlikely that they came from Europe. And if they did it was a slow process of migration from Europe or western Asia across Siberia that took a long time, not an expedition, so I wouldn't call them Europeans. It's also unlikely vikings never set foot on the mainland. But even if the Natives came from Europe in just a few years and even if Vikings only ever set foot on that one island of Newfoundland , my point is that this isn't the first time that a Viking ship has sailed to the new continent. You know, the thing the video is about :D (BTW NYC is for the most part also not on of the mainland as it's on a bunch of islands)
