This is our fourth episode of Sailing Nandji. We are from South Australia and recently moved aboard our Roberts 40 yacht called Nandji. We have limited sailing experience but believe you can accomplish anything if you are passionate and dedicated to the cause.
In this episode we make a make=shift halyard and sail back from the great barrier reef to Airlie beach. We were blessed with some beautiful calm seas and clear skies. Once back on land we fixed our problems and set sail for the spectacular Whitehaven beach and Hills inlet. This is the greatest distance south we have sailed and we are starting to really enjoy the long distance sailing and are becoming more comfortable with blue water sailing.

I just want to say that I love your enthusiastic approach, not tempered by listening to naysayers. You no doubt experience some random doubts in private, but you will push through to become thoroughly capable open water sailors. There are too many people who are prisoners of their own caution, and you two stand out like a beacon. I am an old fart at 70, with a body no longer up to the challenge of big trips (but, after three months in New Caledonia, standing in awe at the marina full of Pacific cruising yachts, I have at least sailed my own little 25' yacht in the 150nm Adelaide-Port Lincoln race, and still make shorter trips outside in my Hobie Tandem Island) I am one of the growing legion of people who will relish being virtual crew-members onboard Nandji for your travels!

Hey guys, just a safety tip when going up the mast, get yourself an auto lock devise such as a shunt and attach it to your harness and then another line as you go up , just incase your mainline fails.

BTW, if you are looking for the definitive sailing reference book, you can pick up a used copy of "Glenans Sailing Manual" for around five bucks. In France, they have very strict and complex rules about sailing offshore, so everybody attends schools like the Glenans Sailing School. This manual is a comprehensive reference. I mean, it even has a chapter "Maintaining morale in a liferaft" WTF!

Hi guys, good videos-nice seeing your adventure. One suggestion that would make watching more enjoyable is if you would try to keep the audio levels between your sound tracks and dialogue closer to each other. It seems like the sound tracks are over twice the volume versus the majority of your narration and it would be much nicer if they were similar.

Hi Guys , it was great to see the places you went to, as I did it some 10 years ago. Did you know that the beach you went to at Airlie beach was a nudist beach. well it was when I had to have a coffer there waiting for a friend.

You need to check out fishing regulations in the Whitsundays as in most of the area including where you shot that first Coral Trout it is illegal to spear fish!!! The area is in a red dotted line and therefor an appreciation area where spear fishing is banned. It is of course very easy to spear fish in banned areas where they are not used to being in danger. Fishing charts are available at many Marinas

We do too! Ours are great ambassadors for the breed, everyone here at the marina loves them. How does Marley do at sea? We have to put ours in doggie daycare when we take the boat out. They just don't enjoy the movement of the boat and with their long legs can't seem to balance well.
