Nicely done, Sam. Out of my league, but always good to see a much more experienced sailor manage everything so calmly. Even the lack of hot tea!

For future info. Kettle of boiled water . Take gas cylinder off the boat ! Pour kettle onto outside of cylinder. Where the gas level is, the water will condensate showing level. The empty portion of the tank the hot water will steam off. Keep up the excellent work Sam

Thank you for your wonderful videos. You seems to do everything as it should when it comes to sailing. However I have noticed that the wood in the cockpit and the deck need some work. I feel pitty for the wood if it will be destroyed and cause you much more job . I dont know if the deck needs more than paint. Have a good time.

Made virtually the same trip in March 2016 with our new to us Westerly W33, We made it all the way to Portsmouth from the Hamble (!) then had to wait out weather before running non-stop from Portsmouth to Ipswich with a pit-stop for fuel in Brighton 'cos from having *way* too much wind it went to no damn wind at all! Had the advantage of being two handed but by the gods was it bloomin' cold!!! 27 hours non-stop, a full English in Fox's marina yacht club, sleep and beer. Cracking trip.

Good job, fantastic cruise! @ It looks, this is a solid boat and, despite her age, still ready to offshore cruise... 40:26 - Is there no electric anchor windlass on the boat? I always have trouble manually raising the anchor, even though it's only a seven-meter boat and I have an outboard engine to help me...

Sam you obviously like long keeler but do they point to windward as well as a fin?
@samsails98208 ай бұрын
I think there is a compromise with performance if you are going for a heavier boat with a long keel, there was quite a bit of research done on performance but out of many of those long keelers in the ultta heavy class, the nicholson was a good contender against the likes of twisters, halycon, etc
@nickmn61088 ай бұрын
Excellent video Sam. I love your clear calm explanations. I am OCD when it comes to safety and to hear you say something like, "I am just sailing with the Jib in the Orwell as it's dark and I don't want to me faffing with the mainsail in the dark" was reassuring. I felt it for you running out of gas. I carry one of those small camping stoves and cannisters just in case. I have subscribed as your explanations are clear, clam and natural and easy to understand. Well done. I would be interested to know the passage you took through or around the London Array wind farm.
