BC native who is now long time Southern CA resident. Driven Hwy 1 in this area but never seen the view from the ocean before. Very nice. The whales were amazing.

That's the trade wind rig, great stability and easy to handle, the west coast is tough so few stoping places. cheers Warren

Hope you enjoyed your time in SoCal. You don't believe that the temperature can change that much just from turning along the point until you do it.

You guys were so lucky with the weather, especially around Conception. Seem that it is hard to get three days in a row where the winds are not blowing 25 kts or more. What were the dates of this part of the trip?

I don’t know how you could have flies that far offshore. You must have brought them with you 😜

did you get another boat, or are you quitting sailing or? (referring to your boat being for sale).

What’s that scratching sound on the steering?

Paul Lord Hutchinson I think it is the wind generator for electric power. Some of the other sailing channels have the same noise
@ingridvandekoppel5 жыл бұрын
I believe it's de electric autopilot.

But I wasn't there...
@frankd23015 жыл бұрын
Yes it’s the autopilot

Do you ever have pilot whales follow you? They are very cool.

Get sonicare toothbrushes. New ones last 14 days on a charge. Game changer . Costco sells a two pack for 99-119$ US.. NICE VID

I stopped watching at 59 seconds. The wind is blowing and your sails are bagged up. No longer a sailing channel. This is the they give up channel.

Some harbors require motoring in and out for safety. They sail at 2:00 . Also, you were the best doctor

Tom I’ve never sailed before baker 🙄

It's Pillar Point Harbor. The local area is Princeton, CA, Half Moon Bay is the closest incorporated city. Motoring in and out is a good idea if you aren't familiar with the harbor. The harbor entrance is on the backside of a reef. You parallel the shore behind the reef until you reach the marked channel and cross the reef. I see some boats sail in and out, but quite a few choose not to.

I don't know why I added the postal code state abbreviation (CA) to Princeton. Pillar Point is known to surfers worldwide as "Mavericks", for the surf break located just offshore.

Hey Tom. I am, same as you, not familiar about the reason as why their sails where not up. BUT I find it highly disrespectful from you or any other nagging Person, not only on this channel, but on others too, when I see comments like yours. You force that way basically something up, from which you (and I) have no clue about their reason why to not sail. Reading the answers from locals, it is explained WHY they did so. But that battering, that argueing, that negativness from you and Folks like you, is frankly said bull. Shut simply up and don't visit no more if you don't like it. Or better, start a Vlog yourselves and put you at the risk of Folks like yourselves. I want to see, how Long you will be happy, when Folks treat you the way, after so much work, as you are doing. Respect their work and that they give US the CHANCE to travel with them. Take things a bit more with a grain of salt mate.
