Very Nice video sailing the inside, sharing the way it feels to be there... We've been blessed to have been there twice. Thanks

Thank you for your videos. You are covering all the areas we hope to visit (or have visited) on our boat. This one was especially insightful for us as we hope to get to the Broughton’s in the next year or two. It was very helpful when you wrote out your passages and stops so that I could pause the video and reference where you were on our charts. If you are interested in becoming even more of a video “cruising guide”, would it be possible for you to include a graphic of a chart with your routes overlaid on top?! Looking forward to the videos from the rest of this cruise, and hoping to find places to go in the Broughtons.

Thanks for your comments Steve. I'd love to do the chart thing in the videos, but I haven't been able to figure out how to do that without a great deal of extra work (once I figure it out, that is). I have a digital log book that I has charts with tracks. I don't know of any training source for including motion tracking on a chart in the videos.

Best sailing video I have seen for the BC coastal area. We're thinking of buying a bigger sailing boat (have sailed for 15 years now) and travel for a year around BC and Alaska. Going to Nanaimo Canada Day weekend to check one out. Keep up with your videos, they're the best! Hope to see you on the water some day! ⛵

Thanks for the comment! The videos are fun to make and the editing process keeps me busy on a rainy winter's night. I'm currently in Ucluelet, heading north along the coast with a destination of Kyuquot later this month, back the end of July. Enjoy the boat hunting experience and don't let some of the junk out there get you down!

I enjoy putting them together. Some day, sitting in a rocking chair in a "retirement center", I'll be able to remember what I did!

Thanks for the comment. It's one of favorite destinations when we're cruising the Gulf Islands. Probably again this year after the cruise to the west side of Vancouver Island.

Hey Dennis, hunker down the hatches, you've been the brunt of some pretty heavy winds over the last couple of days! Still a long way to spring!

Another great one. I so miss the Broughtons. Looking forward to the rest.

Second time to the Broughtons for me. I prefer the west coast of the Island myself, the destination for 2024! Not nearly as far to go from Sidney, and typically better winds! Enjoy the winter planning!

What happened with Smuggler Cove? It's not a perfect anchorage, can be crowded, poor holding, more exposure to all winds than you might think. [Edit: ah, crowded. There aren't that many good spots either.] Failing that, Secret Cove gives good shelter, but it looks like you had an easy crossing and maybe you just wanted to get along a little further while conditions were favorable? Once you're past Cape Cockburn, there's less concern for conditions to develop into something overwhelming, at least in summer. 18:01 Lovely fade to nightfall looking across from the Texada Boat Club to Westview. Well done the photographer!

Thanks for the comment. I've been in Smugglers Cove many times, always in the far pond with a stern line ashore. With enough scope it's good holding, just not much room. And then there are the mosquitos from the beaver pond. But it's a handy place to stop after a crossing of the Strait. Secret is a bit too crowded with the docks and commercial enterprises (and YC Outstations!). I'm currently headed south (Pender Harbour today) after three weeks in Desolation. I gave up on the west coast in June after three weeks of cold temperatures and adverse winds! More videos in the fall.

FWIW to ya, Lady K Sailing is looking for writers…:)

It appears that I'm not up to speed on all the internet shorthand! I learned a few days ago that Good Old Boat is closing shop with the March/April edition! Another magazine eaten by the internet highway. And another source of income deleted from the "keep the boat" budget! And the video camera has passed away, too expensive to repair! But soldier on we must, still aiming for the west coast of the Island in June/July. Keep up the excellent videos you post!

@@BertVermeerSailing Hmm…I don’t post videos. FWIW is ‘for what it’s worth’. I’m just letting you know that there is a KZbin channel called Lady K, and the man who runs it is actively soliciting writers to write articles for him, for pay. Might be worth looking in to…
