That seems like a high rate of wear for a belt. Is there an alignment issue or an undue amount of stress on it?

How much was the French guide ? Is that a Gates Belt ? (is that engine belt dust on the engine from belt wear) ?

The guide was good. Yes belt wear was the rubber dust issue.

try to find a little larger pulley for the generator, or try a belt that is not solid on the inside if you understand what i mean.. I don't remember the English word.. but the one i mean can take a tight curve . Your belt should last 5 years ,not 5/year and its the gen. that's heavy to pull. the best would be to have multiribb belt but then you'll have to change all pulleys... with a new belt - check tension often ,when the gen. start's to slip it ruins a new belt in no time...good luck

Theres literally powder forming on the surrounding components with extreme un even wear on that belt something isn't right with the pulleys good grief
