Sailing Ula from Turkey to the Caribbean - The Journey Begins S09E01

Sailing from Turkey to the Caribbean is something we have been planning for a long time, and now the journey begins. In this episode we finally break ties with Turkey after 18 years and head to Greece for the first step in this adventure. With a favourable forecast, we head out from Mandalya and head to Symi, where we will do our check in. The forecast as usual turns out to be way out and we are hit with 30kts and confused seas, before we finally land on the island of Tilos. Leaving Tilos we have a great sail over to Symi, but the predicted 4 hours sailing turns into 8 hours as once again the forecast is wrong and tacking is the order of the day!
