Clipper cove has been a favorite for a long time . There are several really nasty cables right near where you anchored. Trip line second that. The cove has been silting up fast though .. Tough to get in unless you hug the TI shore (north)

I grew up on Treasure Island. I remember the school on the island too. My sister graduated from there, she was the last class and my aunt used to be a teacher for kindergarteners. It’s so crazy to see how the island is transforming right in front of my eyes. I always heard about the development but it’s just now happening after so long.

It’s awesome to see our home through new eyes! It definitely rekindles some love for the place. Re radiation, someone told me they used to wash down vessels that had been used in nuclear tests in the South Pacific, and that there was some kind of use of radium on the island, and that when they were done, the simply buried the drums of radium to later leach out into the bay. CRAZY that they’re now building there to live full time, but I guess the radiation is fairly pin-pointed in certain areas. Can’t wait to see how much fun you had on Angel! We love that place!
@sailingavocet2 жыл бұрын
Yeah! That’s why we dedicated the middle of the video to the radiation issue. Our blog post goes a little more in depth www.svavocet.com/2022/10/14/clipper-cove-san-francisco/

@@sailingavocet .. China Clipper is a good book 📚 to read about that era in time time of the PanAm Martin flying boats. Ed Musik was the chief pilot 👨✈️ then setting up the Pacific routes, he did most all of the exploring runs back then figuring out the best way to get to these New islands or countries, he later died is a fire in the plane climbing out of Pago Pago in an older S-38 seaplane that leaked fuel, he hated them older planes for that reason and Never let his crew smoke onboard (he never smoked himself) but the company “PanAm” made him use it on that long flight… Every time I went in or out of Pago Pago I thought of that.

While in the Bay area you should get a loaf of sourdough. I'm not sure if it is the air, the weather, or the water that makes such a loaf of bread so darn good. This is my profound statement for the day. Btw, Cleo seemed to act right on cue! :¬) Webhead USA

@@sailingavocet I read what you wrote. My cousin and I had lunch at Alito's back in the 1970's. Back then, SF had a mayor Alito. I wondered if there was a connection between the mayor and the restaurant. In 1996 my two kids and I visited my aunt who lived in a high-rise in SF. We had seafood on the wharf, and went to Ghirardelli Square. Also the Exploratorium, but as I remember it was not at Pier 15 back then. You should go to the Exploratorium if you can - it is a fun place. Best, Webhead USA

Hey I just found your channel and in my opinion you'all are living a very cool and admiral life style I give you kudos on that👍🏻 I've lived on boats my whole life and around eight years ago I found what I thought was a home on Richardson's Bay in Sausalito . Turned out to be the worst experience in my life most corrupt Little City and the sheriff department together are the worst I've seen anywhere in my life so if you happen to drop your pic anywhere near Sausalito expect to have a note on your Vessel within 3 days and a very rude so-called Harbor Master who thinks he's the administrator of the world come up and talk s*** to you good luck with all that they've stolen two boats from me and crush them illegally at the Army Corps of Engineers and I have never been able to get any reimbursement back or property so if you do happen to drop a pic in Richardson Bay be careful you could lose everything you own
@sailingavocet2 жыл бұрын
Sorry to hear that, we can’t imagine how upsetting that would be to have everything you own just vanish. It’s heartbreaking, really! We spent a few days in Richardson bay but obtained permission from the harbor patrol. Didn’t have an issue during our visit
