I have been to Koh Lan a couple of times and it is a amazing beach. As you say it is really geared towards tourist, so I would imagine the jetski's and power boats would be annoying. Most people come across from Pattaya on the ferry and then leave before sunset. I stayed overnight at a hotel\condo for the night....was a amazing time...there are pubs \ clubs south on the island from the ferry drop off point. Baht bus for easy transport to the beach or to the pubs. Sounds like you had fun anyways...cheers.
