A tremendous amount of work has gone into this refit. Matt, your carpentry skills have come along way during the project. I know all of your sailing friends will be amazed at the transformation of your boat interior. I don't think you could expect a much better outcome considering your skills and budget. Bravo to you both. Time to have a PARTY!!! All I need to know is when, and where. I'll help you fill up that booze locker! Later! ME

Guys, I can't tell you how much I've enjoyed watching your videos over the past couple of years. I've been pretty much housebound with spine issues and living through your adventure has been a great relief. Your tenacity and work ethic is incredible and it's great to see you so close to the conclusion of your refit. I'm pushing 70 years old now, but even at 20 I would never have had the guts to undertake such a project as you have. All of God's blessings to you both on your adventure. Have a ball. You've certainly earned it. I wish I could send more, but I'm on a fixed income these days. But it's certainly worth being able to live vicariously through y'all. Now, go have some fun!

Jan K maybe before world war 2 you would of been able to do a project like this. But from the late 40s until a couple of years ago you would not of been able to tackle this project full time unless you were independently wealthy, and in the same time the wealthy would not get their hands dirty. During those years they paid someone to do anything and everything. Is why they were useless but our economy was great because it created job's. With remote jobs and the ability to turn your project into a job making videos this might be the absolute golden age for living a meaningful quality life. I'm 56 yrs old and it seems like my age group missed out on a adult real middle class. I say adult because we understood it, saw it as children and then had it ripped from our hands and stolen from us. Probably why my generation saw the explosion of drug abuse and failed marriage. And now we're to old to engage in this lifestyle. If you're like me and didn't give up or give in to the widespread greed your body is broken from the physical labor we underwent transitioning from the old hands on work to now a push button machine run job's. I truly feel they threw my generations meaningful quality of life into the garbage heap to rot. it's also why we see so many people from my generation that see Donald J Trump as their leader. They want to smash and get revenge. They feel like they have been sacrificed and it's too late for them. I'm not using this as my soapbox to yell and cry poor poor me, I just want to make it clear to the young adult generation take advantage of all the options you guys have and I know a lot of you understand what I'm saying because you are the children of that generation and hopefully what I said will give you a understanding of why your parents had a tough time making it difficult for you in your youth. But hopefully it made you stronger. Well it didn't kill you your here so you had to get stronger. Live life like it's your last day on earth believe me it's much shorter than we think.

When I got back from Nam I went to work in a boat yard on the Chesapeake Bay. They called me Boatyard Bill. I did what you just did. I met my wife while there, living on my boat. I will be 80 soon. I remember how it was back then. You did a great job! I have been around the world a couple of times since then, we are still married with grand children. I hope you stay with your work ethic, it will carry you forward to many more exciting adventures. I will miss your updates. Enjoy the fruits of your labor. ...... GBU !!!!! I christen you "Master Ship Builder".

The most impressive thing about all of this is how without having a workshop, the boat on the water and limited resources it turned out beautiful. I know you probably can find small flaws or wish you could have done something better, but it looks great on video.

I know most of your sub's can not see it watching the videos every week, but when you put all the work you did in to one video it shows how incredibly insane that refit was . The sheer amount of work, energy, blood sweat and tears you put in to making your boat newer, beautiful, more organized, better to look at, to live in and to adventure on. I congratulate you both not only on a job well done but for keeping your sanity and maintaining your relationship throughout. these kinds of projects can sometimes be relationship enders, the stress, the exhaustion, the mess, all of it takes a toll . you two rock and I hope you know that, keep on keepin on.

Absolutely fantastic video. The time lapse was perfect. The music went so well with the content. That really told the story of the how many projects actually had to be done to get the boat looking as beautiful as it does today. The editing was stellar. As the video progressed, I kept remembering things about each project and episode. The style of the interior looks like something from the pages of a modern boating magazine. You should be proud of your very hard work and dedication. This was your best video yet, and I’ve been there through them all. Congratulations on an epic transformation and may you have many years of smooth sailing ahead.

This was so awesome to watch the sense of joy and pride I felt for you two was incredible even though we've never met. The editing and musical choices were amazing and so very well done. What you kids have accomplished is definitely something to be very and I mean very proud of. With the tools you had to work with and materials available to you, you've really pulled off something almost magical and unbelievable if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes Matt but I never doubted you'd be able to do it. Kristen, (I hope that's spelled correctly), your talent with the camera, editing, sowing, musical selection, putting up with Matt and all the work you've put in this project is on another level, just wow. You two have shown that, yes if you want it and are willing to put in the dedication and work it takes to make it happen dreams really can become reality. I can't wait to see the full reveal because just the glimpse so far is an astonishing transformation. This definitely isn't a $5000.00 boat any more, this is a yacht that is not only sea worthy but functional, beautiful and actually quite stunning both inside and out that anyone in their right mind would be more than happy and proud to call home. I really hope you two get to finally get out there and live this dream you've worked so hard for and truly enjoy it for many, many years and decades to come... (The putting up with Matt part was a joke of course as you two are and have something truly special). Fair winds, following seas, safe travels and God Bless...

The first SGBU video I ever saw was "BOAT YARD (PART 1) COMPLETELY ROTTEN BULKHEADS!" in December of 2021 shortly after you docked in Puerto Rico. I was so taken with your story that I went back and started with your first video and watched them all in order. Since then, I've bought the T-Shirt, and now I'd like to either treat you two to dinner, or put a little gas in the tank of that new engine. You've done a fantastic job as many have told you here in the comments. Now it's time to stow the lines, weigh the anchor, unfurl the sails, and return to the sea. Best of luck on your continued journey. I, as well as many others, will be here watching.

I have been watching both of you a year before your refit and you never ceased to amaze me with your adventures! But, this refit needs to go down in the "Book of Beauty". GBU may need to rethink the removal of "Ugly" from its name. Cuz this is not no "Ugly Boat" rather she is BEAUTIFUL!!! Not only did you spend a year working hard on the refurb, you actually kept us entertained every week and have now edited together an amazing record of your work, which we’ve all watched from start to finish😅😂🙏🏼 Fair winds on your return to the sea!

This video is an amazing work! From persistent and relentless videography to masterful scene selection, and the scoring (music) is amazing. This is no trivial task for such a long time lapse!

What an amazing job! I’ve been following along and have been impressed with the work weekly, but the compilation video gave perspective to the enormity of the project. Matt may have been the lead on this project, but Kristen was right there learning and doing too. The cushions came out fantastic too by the way. Suggestion for you, install a carbon monoxide + smoke detector in your beautiful home says the retired firefighter. Great Job, may you enjoy many more years of sailing together! ⛵️🛟⚓️🌎

Matt, that was a hella lot of magical measuring and even more creative cutting. It was like a giant jig saw puzzle that your sorted out and started building around the edges and worked your way right into the middle and then you put in the finishing pieces and the puzzle becomes a beautiful boat and a cabin to call home. CONGRATULATIONS!

Matt I'll be the first to admit when I saw the initial video of all the damage you two were going to have to repair ,I didn't give you a chance at doing this massive rebuild. You guys have proved everyone wrong that didn't believe it possible. You've done an amazing job ,but working with the few tools you had and the next to no work area the job and out come is nothing short of amazing. Now go and enjoy all your hard work and make some great memories. God bless ,stay safe and congratulations on a job well done.

Watching every week it becomes so easy to forget just how much hard work, blood, sweat, and tears have gone into such a monumental change. Seeing it this way brings all of it into perspective and is even more impressive. I've been subscribed almost since the beginning and I'm amazed at how far you've come with every aspect of things along the way. Now I hope to see you getting out there and having a wonderful time. Do you have plans to add some bells and whistles like a water maker, autopilot, AIS...and for the love of all that is holy, a powered anchor system! You've already proven you CAN make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, now it seems fitting to get some bling! LOL
