Yes, sail has become my favorite since I had back fusion a few years ago. I've taught myself from many U-tube videos like yours and just getting out there and doing it. I like that it is so technical and it always provides some kind of challenge. Weather it be low wind or having to suddenly reef the sails. Or having a shackle brake and my head sail wildly whipping in the wind. I like being out in the elements. Cold, rain, sun etc. Just plain fun. No loud motors. Being with nature. I Want to sail the world one day. Till then I will keep preparing..

Watching a well practiced and seasoned crew handle the cockpit only adds to the poetry of the boat whose commands they control. It is the motion of the centuries upon the art of the eons.

Well, one thing that sailings taught me was patience, you learn to slow down and enjoy the scenery. Living on land we are always in a rush, rush to do the groceries, rush to go to work, rush rush rush. Another thing with sailing is you are much more attentive to the weather.

I love feeling the power of nature that sailing evokes as well as those peaceful, quite sails that cause introspection. I love to go find out what's over the horizon. I can only sail in small lakes at this time but I'm always searching for sailing adventures. Steph, you do inspire, keep on enjoying life, I love your passion!

You already know I've followed you... and that I favor you style, kindness, outlook on life... and attitude toward sailing and life on the water. I'm landlocked now in Mississippi, USA... but my heart has mostly been in the STT and BVI area in the Caribbean.... Love ya guy... take care... Capt'n Rick

Total noob who is looking to take sailing lessons after winter breaks. I've been on some sightseeing schooners and I found it such a thrill be harnessing the power of the wind to move through the water. I think learning how to do that while visiting islands or off-shore places I could never dream of going to before will be the biggest thrill for me. We'll see once I start doing it.

I appreciate you have limited time, however that said I’d like to see you expand on a few of the items from the class. Such as who controls the TSS, how is it marked on the charts, what radio channels should you be scanning if you’re crossing a TSS. Let us know what you are doing with the main sheet and traveller and why while tacking. Sailing, especially high performance sailing is exhilarating when you have an understanding of how your vessel will react to your inputs. I liked the way you and the crew handled those maneuvers, specifically the communication. You’re right there is so much to learn.

All I can say is you are Learning Sailing and seamanship. You are opening your mind and understanding that there is more to Sailing, it’s all the other things like ships flags,weather,tides,colregs,STW95 , IALA A AND B and so on and on it’s goes. I have one question for you. I was so sure I know the answer to this ,it was so easy but to make sure I look it up and didn’t believe what it said. So I ran up the maritime safety board and ask then the question. Who has right of way ( Power boat say 25 ft , rowing boat 25 ft and let’s say on a Lake ) So power boat with engine going and in gear and a rowing boat, rowing boat is on the Port side of power boat at right angles to it, who has right of way ?

in my 40plus years off sailing and racing on everything from dingys to super yachts one thing i see repeatedly is poor use off boom traveler most people set the traveler and forget it but really when beating you need to adjust traveler so boom is center line when trimmed in more speed and points better
