Seeing that trailer gave me nightmares. When I bought my Hirondelle in North Carolina and dragged it back to Wisconsin I thought I had everything covered. I bought new tires already mounted on rims and changed them all out, brought my grease gun to grease up the bearings, checked all of the lights and all was going good until I hit Indianapolis, and that is where the wheels fell of, literally a wheel fell off. They had pulled the boat/trailer out with a skid steer because it had been sitting for years and all of the tires were flat. In this process I think they compromised the lugs, they all snapped off on one tire and the tire/rim went bye-bye. And of course this was on a Sunday and nothing was open, trying to even find a wrecker who didn't think were nuts for wanting the boat and trailer flatbed hauled somewhere where we could get the trailer repaired. Yikes, I hope it all goes well, I had the same problem with rubbing. Long distance boat hauling is not for the faint of heart.

Yikes! I had a similar experience towing a boat back from lake Cumberland in college. We got stranded in Knoxville late Sunday night. Only place open was a strip club. We went in for dinner then slept in the parking lot. 😂

Hey Kirk and Lauren!!! I would love to help you in any way I can with your new F boat! I have owned the 2000 F28SC Triplet for 7 years and taken her to San Francisco to witness SailGP both times, (plan to again in May 2023), sailed the San Juan Islands in Washington several times, sailed Flathead Lake in Montana, and solo circumnavigated Vancouver Island last summer. I keep her on Detroit Lake Oregon through the summers and have a channel here called: Sailing S/V Triplet. You are in for the time of your lives when you learn to sail the gem you have purchased!!! I would thoroughly enjoy hearing from you!!! Triplet and I wish you well. Cheers, Pete Shirley

I have sailed a 21 or 23 ft stilletto cat which would in a puff of wind accelerate right out from under you if you did not pay attention but never a tri so your switch had me looking at videos of farrier 9's or corsair f31's. Holy cow, can they ever fly...and in the upper great lakes park right next to shore or on the beach with board up, etc. It looks like you can sail them one of two ways, conservatively and be relatively flat or sails all out and racing and then the darned things can go like heck...I watched one f31 racing against 200 other big boats in san fran bay and they took line honors for all boats they were so fast. Lots of lines all over the place but if you can get there in half the time over a monohull and have ease of access to shore pl;us trailer it, you guys may have found the magic interim bullet of a boat. Yours is gorgeous and really looks well made. Good luck with the obvious planning and task list you must be working on. Sails like Hell ought to be the name on this one, "Soul, Hell, We Are Flying!"

Woohoo!!! You did it! That’s Awesome! Welcome to the Farrier/Corsair Club. Can’t wait to see you modify the aft cabin with seats. That how ours is. Looks like you have a V sheeting system for the main. That will be nice keeping the cockpit less cluttered. One tip, you can use vinyl braided tubing tight around the shank of the beam bolts to retain them in place. This way they don’t accidentally fall overboard when putting them in place. Have fun and congratulations. Aloha, Cullen Chong Corsiar F-31R “Delta Vee” Honolulu, Hawaii

Good job finding your boat. I now own a F9AX, bought 2 years ago, wood core (Duracore) Having sailed monohulls for 50 years, the change to the tri was mind blowing. I don't regret the past, but had I known... the pure speed and and ease of handling of these fine boats brought back a passion I hadn't felt in a long time. You may already know this, but join the Farrier group on GroupsIO, you'll learn a lot of valuable info. Fair winds to the family ;-)

This is amazing. I've always found it uncanny how much your videos seem to follow the same ideas I have - when I was interested in getting a monohull living in Chicago you did exactly that. Now we're years later and I've been thinking a trailerable trimaran might be a better boat for my lifestyle, and here you are doing exactly that. The difference is you are doing what I, so far, have not been able to. Thanks for bringing us along for the ride so that I can live vicariously through you. Excited to see where your adventure goes next.

I can appreciate your concern when your first boat was not within your sight. I felt like that with my first airplane. It was on skis, on Lake Hood (Anchorage, Alaska). The day after closing the deal I had to go on the road for 2 weeks. As a neophyte, rookie, whatever: my concerns were, did I tie it down correctly, will the ice screws hold, blah, blah, blah. It all worked out fine and I accumulated over 2,000 hours in that bush plane. The memory of those experiences still live with me at 72 years of age, including the concern "will she be OK while I'm gone." She and I did fine. Cheers

So freakin' exciting!!! I worked for a dealership when I was younger that sold corsairs. They were so incredibly foreign to a mono hull guy like me but the speed, rotating mast, folding design, and trailerability made them so incredibly intriguing. I look forward to seeing the process of you making this one right for your family. Cheers to you from Seattle!!

oh yeah, you got the cedar boat! If you end up sailing her hard at some point, you will be much rewarded for this choice. The woodies are much stiffer and able to handle the pounding upwind. And if you do any mods that invade the hulls, it's like magic when the saw opens up the cedar aroma that's locked in there. That cockpit stuff should be no problem, and I assume by now you've already started hacking away. Standing by if you need a point of view on any of the work being planned (or executed). Congrats! - Ravenswing Greg

Congrats Soulianis! Remember how similar our stories are? I had watched a 26' water ballast trailerable sitting in a storage yard 10 miles from my house for a couple years that never moved. Finally left my name with yard owner asking to contact boat owner. Didn't hear anything for another year. Then they called offering to sell. We just about had details worked out and owner wife backed out to keep and move boat over 1,500 miles to their new location. A couple months later a better deal came up, same model, in Wisconsin and I drove over 1,000 miles to get it. Older owner couldn't manage it anymore. I can relate to Kirk's drive. And we both bought boats in WI ;-)

Cool boat guys. You really made it emotional for me when you said that boats spend most of their time alone.
@SailingSoulianis Жыл бұрын
It's hard not to get emotional about boats... Kirk and I were talking about this: how come we don't feel this much for any other type of vehicle or dwelling? Is it because a boat is both? Or because we take care of it, and it takes care of us, so it feels like neither an accessory or a place, but instead, a part of the family?
@tuckerlannon4904 Жыл бұрын
@@SailingSoulianis Feeling strong emotions about our passions makes sense, car guys feel their cars, quants their models, there are even folks who tear up about their lawns. Kirk did a great job of capturing that passion. I felt sad thinking about all those lonely boats that never get sailed or loved.

Congrats. I'm having flashbacks of my drive from Pittsburgh, PA to Salem, MA in an Enterprise rented truck w 4 trailer tires in the bed to hopefully buy our Ericson 25 and get the tires mounted, all of the stuff crammed into the truck, and tow the boat 600 miles home.

Congratulations… onward to the next step in your plan! I'm impressed at your storytelling skills and apparently having to often shoot much of the video solo. Kirk, as you well know, you have two of the cutest women in your life; Lauren & Renata. Good luck with the new trimaran. You've got some good wood core experience that should serve you well. Wintering in the mid-west… where in Michigan/Wisconsin do you hang out? So this is your (next)stepping stone as a sailing family. In a few years, I'd still like to see you in a Dragonfly. Great KZbin channel; keep up the great work.
