How to choose freediving fins

Be prepared for some excitement today! We are finally heading back to the reef for more than a couple of hours, and we got lucky on the way! We are fishing from our sailing boat, one of the best fish there is (in our opinion): a spotted mackerel. Although getting it back on board was a bit messy, prepping it was super simple. Great fishing, i like how you guys are learning all things and have wins along the way, against some challenges. I loved the one huge plate of fish...then another one - nice editing and telling the story. Not loosing the wife this time was great haha - and your little swimming test - basic but it gives some indication. I like these videos as they are real - Look forward to your continuing adventures - I too have a boat, a yacht and caught mackerel in north qld, instantly become my best fish - easy to cook/store fish steaks and delicious

Thanks Peter, means a lot to get comments like this! Where are you located? Yeah mackerel have defo become our favorite fish. It's easy to prep too, and there's no hidden bones! And yeah, managed not to loose the wife but we haven't changed the trampolines yet so could still happen ;)

A tip, you should never twist the fish line around your hands when pulling in a fish as a shark could come in and grab your fish which could then tighten the line and cut your hand or possibly remove a finger , I have had many a fish taken this way

That's very true, I tried to find another way but struggled. Any tip on how to reel the fish in? We've now got a gaff to hook it on the boat without risking loosing the fish.

Wear some gloves when reeling in a heavy hand line. Also give the fish a chance to take the bait/lure, striking too early pulls it away from the fish.
