@@RoversAdventure Yes, but by sheer number of views and likes, cats will never be usurped. That said, I’ve cared for many a hen and rooster. Some can be surprisingly loyal and affectionate.

George Buehler's Boats are a great design that basically anyone can do with just a limited amount of construction experience. I've been watching a similar channel as Bills its called Six Points wood works. Thanks for sharing Alan I'll definitely be checking out this build.

Been following Bills channel. Built a similar shed but made my arches from 3/8 plywood with alternating boxed section and solid block components, assembled in a jig. They turned out extremely well. Light, rigid, and much cheaper than all timber. It’s been up a year now and I wouldn’t change it in anyway. I’ll be putting out a video in the coming months. Then there’s the boat…

Looking forward to seeing the video, if I could just turn back time I would build one for the 650.

@@RoversAdventure yeah a Gothic arch is a good choice for a temporary shed. Walls and roof in one, cheap to build, lots of diffuse light... Cheers

Hi Alan, I discovered your channel a few weeks ago, and think I've watched nearly every one already. Really enjoying it. You're doing what I've dreampt of for decades. I really like the careful and methodical approach you take to sailing and setting up your boats. I see so many sailing KZbinrs out there in a gale, running full or slightly reefed sails and having serious problems that could endanger their lives. Then, I see you running under just a storm jib while trailing a drogue. Much more my style when it comes time for me to head outside SF Bay to sail the world. lol Cheers man!

Motor sailer will use sails more often simply to steady boat underway particularly in a rolly beam sea. Also a wedge sail at anchor in severe wind to stop windshear.

Ive noticed on youtube that Americans seem to be ok with usinjg knotted wood in their boats. In NZ we typically discard timber with knots for structural or aesthetics purposes in boats.
@RoversAdventureАй бұрын
I had voiced that concern to both the builders that I have shown on my channel. This is an amateurish approach IMHO and not to be confused with more professional American builders.

@@dugpuck I believe that the explanation was in the last third of the above video. It was a really hard decision and it also had a lot to do with finances which I didn't go into. This next voyage will be different in the last respect as I plan to be better prepared financially.

Confused. Juniper (Juniperus virginiana? aka eastern juniper or eastern red cedar) is not larch (Larix laricina, aka tamarack). Larch loses its needles in the fall whereas juniper doesn’t. I suspect wood that size might be larch?

You are right. Juniper is the local name here on PEI for some unknown reason. If you want some 2x4 larch at a local saw mill you say: "Can I get some 2x4 Juniper please."

hold on... it seems to me this gentleman's passion is boat building given the magnitude and pace. I have to wonder what he imagines what purpose the boat will be put to and how did he choose the design? will he go on a major cruise? also, if time was of the essence, why not hire a builder to put up the shed, and even get a laminating company to fabricate the keel. And.. did he get an engineer and and a building permit for the shed? perhaps we won't talk about that..
