They taught you guys how to do so much. They didn't need to do so but they did. I would love to meet them in person one day to tell them they are awesome people and awesome shipwrights.

Ben, just to be safe see if you can get a piece of thin brass to make some labels to mark your fill holes to fit into the floor boards at least mark the water tank as you don’t want someone filling it with diesel! You may even find premade plates enameled in Blue for water and Yellow for diesel. You may also want to put a water filter on the fill line to at least catch any foreign junk. And lastly you should mount a float valve in the lids one for each tank to purge the air in filling yet not allow water to leak out. You will need one more in the filling tube to allow air to enter as the water is used (preventing a vacuum) a T and an elbow near the deck fill so the float allows air in but prevents water to leak out.

You need a valve towards each separate tank. There are too many cases where you might want to separate tanks. The best would be a separate hose to each tank and the valves within reach closer to the filling hose. Happy Christmas!
@delukxyСағат бұрын
Just put a tap in each connecting pipe. Each tank may or may not need a breather but certainly there needs to be one somewhere. You can't pump liquid out of system without one.

How will you treat the water? Since the tanks are all connected, yet separate, it may become difficult to sterilize the lower tanks. Living on a water catchment, I have learned the hard way about waterborne pathogens. You should add access to each tank separately, so you can sterilize. You guys are great! Keep up the great work. It is really paying off!
@garybensel668018 минут бұрын
How about some vents for the tanks? Filling will be much faster and also less chance of vapor lock. Merry Christmas!

Looking good! What happens when all the building stops, do you have a lockup somewhere to store it all away once you really start doing extensive long distance sea trial? I know you have just move stuff around but that sense of less clutter is really starting to give it a boat atmosphere rather than a floating workshop.

It would be better to have a swivel on the Bruce , when you decide to get one get the best you can find and afford it’s a key link in your safety. Do you have an air vent for the tanks? You need one .Thanks for bringing us along on this journey to Christmas .

Years after they were installed the little white plastic crumbs that were residual from cutting holes in the tanks eventually clogged up the water pump on my motor home. I had to disassemble the pump and pick the crumbs out of the pump with a toothpick. Good to go again but it took me quite a while to figure it out.
@bobjacobs-x1iСағат бұрын
Hi guys , nice one , your getting there, Now your going to think of me as being a pest after thiis,(sorry bout that :) )Dont forget what i said about those blinders for the windows ,pass my suggestion to the carpenters when they come just to see what they say, scooners like yaba were origionallt designed to be cargo vessels that were fast so they could rob larger slower vessels, where you have accomodation with windows close to the water line they used to have cargo holds with hatches that were battoned down with canvas and kegs, the bullwalks were closed and solid enough to have small cannons on them ,i understand you not wanting the blinders but they would only be placed for rough weather ,As you go furyher north along the coast you will be getting a constant strong easterly wind with fairly rough seas and as you go N of equater it will change to westerly winds always think safety first , life at sea can be dangerous as ive found out through experiance. i hope you take this to heart and it wont hurt to ask the carpenters what they think about it , love what youve done so far :)

Dockside hose will never supply enough flow to necessitate such large fill lines. Better to run smaller individual lines joined at a manifold at a higher point (with a valve for each tank).
