Hi Niamh and RHY, I watched your video so many times reminds me of sailing a long time ago now. CONGRATULATIONS on your forthcoming wedding. Your work on the boat is great and shows how much you both love the sea and sailing . Your tenacity is very admirable.I wish you both a great wedding day and your forthcoming trip around the world. You have hit a lot of unfortunate things go wrong on board but that will pass. Call them teething troubles. Happiness and good sailing to you both. Keep safe and in God's hands. Hugs Nana.

To help the rolling. Try and have the 3rd reef in the main sheeted midship and tight. So the sail itself is doing very little but providing resistance to the roll. Still in Tangier, pleased you made it ok. Was watching on AIS

@chrisyarnold62052 жыл бұрын
Just subscribed, first time I've come across your channel. No expert at all but I would experiment with raising mainsail a little to dampen down rolling when sailing downwind. May have to adjust vane or course if wind on one quarter.
@SailingYachtZora2 жыл бұрын
Good thinking, I'll give that a go

Great video Rhys. Enjoy the realness of the footage and the commentary. Not all sailing is heeled over in 30 knot winds with 20 foot seas and green water over the bow. Most of the time it is just moving along at 5 to 6 knots with rolling seas under reduced sail and watching the time go by. Best wishes for a great wedding. Take care.

Great job Rhys, I envy you that trip. Re the rolling - have you tried a partially unrolled staysail sheeted hard amidships? Best wishes to you both from both of us. SY Eliana.
@SailingYachtZora2 жыл бұрын
I'll give that a go, but usually I use the staysail poled out. Maybe I'll try some.main that way
@ianhorne81442 жыл бұрын
@@SailingYachtZora ! Mmmm…. Not sure about that. My suspicion is that there is a risk that by moving the C of E aft by having the main up and then sheeting the main in hard, may make life a lot harder for your ‘vane gear. If you try it, maybe try it triple-reefed? If you can carry the main trimmed normally, flattened and prevented, then that would help - either on the same gybe or ‘wing and wing’. Let us know what works best!

Rolling? Sometimes that’s just life but it can be caused The vortices coming off a sail. This causes the death toll you see on dinghy sailing sometimes. Sail adjustments can help. You might find adding more ballast ( internal) could reduce the roll period. I know you added ballast to the lines but Ballast in the right places can make a difference. Cheers warren
