I had the pleasure of seeing your boat in real life today at the Hiswa and was absolutely stunned by the craftsmanship that went into it. Of course, the videos of the whole design and build process already gave a good impression but I was really looking forward to today's visit and it surely was the highlight! On the way back I thought about your question about what I'd like to see in future videos. I would love some content on performance and durability when sailing in northern Europe in colder conditions, especially on how the electrical systems and the hybrid drive perform. It was very nice meeting you today and I'm looking forward to your next videos!

Loved meeting you both today at Hiswa Boot Show. The boat looks fantastic! I have watched the whole build series as I live in Holland and its a great display of how a world class sailing yacht is specified, reviewed, designed and built. A culmination of 2 years of effort on both your behalf and the boat designers, builders and engineers. Then the finished and polished product was there in Lelystad! I enjoyed meet both of you today and want to call out and compliment the whole build series of videos - my favourite was the video on energy requirement and supply with the solar panels and hybrid generation on one side and all the consumption on the other side including drive, lights, steerage, airco, etc. And then I had the chance to meet you both, experience this fantastic yacht and enjoy a simple selfie ❤😊

It was a great pleasure meeting you both at the Hiswa boat show in Lelystad this weekend. The boat looks stunning. We wish you many safe and beautiful nautical sailing miles! Very best regards Harry & Liz

Great looking boat and she looks to be sailing well as well. One thing I would have done different is to have a hard bimini rather than the canvas bimini. It provides better protection and space for solar panels and also lend itself to install side clears for protection in bad weather.

The dognut fixed the issue. Like everything on a boat, it needs to be looked after. She's a beauty. 🩶💙 Thanks for sharing.

The boat is looking good and it was interesting to have the sail person there to overlook the testing of the sails. At times the front of the boat looked like it was plowing through the water. Not sure if it was just how the video was showing up.

Hehehe Now, since Distant Shores IV is all done, then you will obviously be at the Sailboat Show in Annapolis, MD this coming October. Correct? The answer is "Certainly!". I can't wait to see you there! : - ) Look, if I can be there, then you can be there. Basically, I would Love to see the new Distant Shores IV show up at the Show!

Great video again! One remark: An MFD at helm outside must have physical buttons! A bit of rain makes touch screen useless.
@claekm16 күн бұрын
A very strange comment...., we have been sailing about 10 years with a touchscreen at the helm, without any issues. Right now a B&G Vulcan 12" sice 2 years, not a single issue in rain.

So besides the material used to make this vessel, what is the difference between your old boat

There appeared to be some dark smudges on the hull, particularly on the starboard side and forward of midships. Was that my imagination or merely a feature of an aluminum hull?
@DistantShoresTV16 күн бұрын
The aluminium hull is great. The boat was up against tires on a pier a few weeks ago when there was a gale and got smudges on her sides. Sheryl has made me promise to clean it off😅

Dear Sharon and Paul, love your videos and your new yacht. I am wondering however why it is you feel so confident not wearing a lifevest moving over the deck whilst at sea… it might just help you enjoy your beautiful new yacht so much longer…
@johnmayer343313 күн бұрын
Are you a sales person for life vests? The conditions were by no means asking for safety gear.
@JefWintermans13 күн бұрын
By no means I am a salesperson for life vests. But I am a former Naval Officer and an active seasailing instructor. Problem is, you never know when disaster strucks. By all means put your own life at higher risk pretending you know when it is safe at sea and when not. Chances are high you havent gotten used to wearing a life vest when you need one. But then it might be too late. In addition, this is their new acht. First time sails up. You really think they commando a MOB manoeuvre? I wouldnt take the risk…
@johnmayer343312 күн бұрын
@@JefWintermans Fact is that here in Northern Europe say 15 years ago almost nobody wore a life vest in benign conditions. Then the yachting magazines started printing ever more articles on how dangerous it is to go sailing w/o wearing a life west, IMHO massively backed by the industry. Just look into the trends to add lots of electronics like EPIRBS to the vests, pure marketing. To the best of my knowledge there are no numbers saying that back then more people drowned. Actually I think that wearing a life west makes you less aware of your safety and maybe kind of careless because everybody is telling you that if you are wearing a life west you are completely safe. It seems that older sailors are generally behaving the same way as at the time when they were taught how to sail say back in the 80ies. You donned a life west when it was necessary. Safety is placed in your head not in your gear.
