I noticed Usagi/ Serenity from the future always seem to be lost or have lost confidence in herself. Then admire herself in the past. First Neo Queen Serenity & now Sailor Cosmos. I guess it makes sense since the older version of herself got more scars & lose more & more of that innosence that the young version of herself still had. She lost faith in herself & the world around her. Neo queen Serenity cannot even transform into Sailor Moon anymore. That's why the young Usagi/Serenity is stronger because she still have hopes for the future! It's kind of a beautiful message. I think I understand what Naoko tried to say now at the end

For those who don't know, Sailor Cosmos is voiced by Keiko Kitagawa. Her first acting job was playing Rei, Sailor Mars, in PGSM Sailor Moon. It gives me the giggles. She's come full circle. I love how after having a high profile career, she's come back to where it all started. Sailor Senshi for life.

i can confirm to you that cosmos is usagi from the the far far future after neo queen serenity herself, just look at the details in the movie you can see the crystal tokyo collapse in the time of cosmos and all people around died which includes chibiusa, mamoru, her friends, families all gone, that's a terrible truth, all people you love are gone and you can't save them by the law of universe

In the manga, Mamoru ends the story observing Usagi at their wedding and reflects on how they will all die but Usagi will live on forever as the brightest star in the universe. Sailor Cosmos is what Sailor Galaxy was meant to be, the ultimate guardian of the universe against sailor chaos. Sailor Cosmos IS SAILOR MOON in the far distant future. She is the brightest star against the deepest darkness.

For those of you wondering if Sailor Cosmos is indeed Usagi .... she is. Because Cosmos is a conceptual being, standard rules of time travel as established in the second arc wouldn't apply to her (and she could protect Usagi [her younger self] from those effects too - though arguably, since the Silver Crystal power permeates space-time as was shown in the Second arc, its likely that as Sailor Moon becomes stronger - aka Super, Eternal and Neo Queen Serenity, she probably gains the ability to nullify the effects of time travel on herself - or she gains the ability while evolving into Cosmos . Plus, she has the silver hair (a trademark from her time as Neo Queen Serenity) and looks the same as Usagi (just much much older). There could have a million things happened between her time as Neo Queen Serenity and by the time she becomes Cosmos (she could have taken up the mantle again at some point). Also, Neo Queen Serenity was described to be more powerful than SM Eternal form... and she retained the use of her powers even after Chibi Usa awakened as a Senshi (aka, there was no transfer of powers from Usagi to Chibi Usa - they both used their own innate powers).

There is a scene in the original translation where she comments that she went back to the time where she had made this choice, at that moment it was Usagi making the choice (Cauldron)... so now I'm a bit confused by this translations. I'll wait until we get an official translation before making judgments though.

It looks like Crystal Palace is destroyed in this scene + they released Sailor Chaos in official promo materials and she's hovering over crystal palace so it looks that Sailor Chaos possessed a power to destroy something that is considered to be indestructible (as Crystal Palace is made from Silver Crystal itself)

The nearly 10 year old English translation of the manga that I own has Sailor Cosmos say that she comes from “an incredibly distant future”. Including the stuff she says about remembering this moment, I always believed that she was an incarnation of Sailor Moon from millions of years down the line (like as in a reincarnation of Sailor Moon in the same way that Usagi was a reincarnation of Princess Serenity. We never did get to see what the original Princess Serenity was like). She has at one point regained her memories of her life as Sailor Moon, but the pain, the loss, the horrors of her fight against Sailor Chaos have stripped away all the hope & courage she remembered having as Sailor Moon. Before I continue waxing poetic about Sailor Cosmos, I wanna get back to my point that there is nothing that states that she cant be a descendant of Rini’s especially with the similar hair colours & styles….

​@@Darkwiccawillow Rini is Chibi Usa (aka Usagi's daughter from the 31st century)... and its highly unlikely Rini is Sailor Cosmos. We know the Silver Crystal grants immortality... and given the story is about Sailor Moon... its very likely Usagi. Even if she's reincarnated between her time being Neo Queen Serenity and Cosmos... down to the core, its the same consciousness... just older and different over time due to her experiences and passage of time. All in all, I still suspect that Usagi after becoming Neo Queen Serenity, just grew in power so much that she hadn't died at all so there was no need for reincarnation (since the Silver Crystal grants her and those around her immortality).

In the 90's anime changed the real identity of Chibi Chibi. In the manga (so, in this reboot) Chibi Chibi is Sailor Cosmos, the future Usagi. In the 90's anime they make Chibi Chibi the light of hope.

I remember how sad i got when i read this in the manga. How she admitted she lost hope over the years, losing her loved ones and other bad stuff. How the onyl light she had left was the memories of how she used to be when she was still young, carefree and full of hope. I cired when she tells Usagi that meeting her past self reanimated her stregth to keep on going, protecting the Earth, even if she has to do it on her own for all eternity 🤧

I believe that Sailor Cosmos is Sailor Moon's/Neo Queen Serenity's reincarnation. In the mangas you cannot see Mamoru in the flashback of that destructive world Sailor Cosmos was fighting in. Then, Sailor Cosmos also mentioned something about reincarnation before disappearing back into her own world. We also learn in the Mangas that while Chaos is so small that it cannot be found within the Galaxy Cauldron, it'll eventually grow and return. Thus hinting the birth of Sailor Chaos in the future. But in a time when Neo Queen Serenity probably doesn't exist anymore, but was reborn as Sailor Cosmos

I always thought Cosmos was a far off Future of Usagi. In the original translation she says she went back to the time when she made this choice. While I can't remember the exact wording, I DO remember that she used the a personal pronoun when saying why she went back. So I thought she meant Usagi's choice at that moment. Not gonna spoil for those who are new to sailor moon, but it happens towards the end and the only one making a choice IS Usagi. So now I'm confused.

I think that threw me the most about her in the anime. Maybe they were trying to make her eyes more like Queen Serenity's? But that doesn't really make sense either. This is supposed to be going off the manga so I'm just super confused. I'm hoping when it comes out officially some of our questions will be answered!

I already wrote a bit of novel in a different comment I’m going be briefer here. My theory is Sailor Cosmos is a reincarnation of Sailor Moon in the same way that Usagi is a reincarnation of Princess Serenity. Thus Cosmos has all memories of this moment and choice but is very much her own person who’s experiences coloured those memories until she got to experience them from an outside (Chibichibi) prospective.

I agree that Usagi is Sailor Cosmos for these reasons: 1. Sailor Cosmos said that she frequently remembered this battle at the Galaxy Cauldron whenever she felt alone. The only sailor soldier who was battling at the Galaxy Cauldron was Sailor Moon. Sailor Cosmos as Chibi Chibi prevented even Sailor Chibi Moon from interfering in the battle because it was Eternal Sailor Moon's battle; the future of the galaxy depended on Eternal Sailor Moon. 2. Sailor Cosmos turned into Chibi Chibi to help Usagi make the "right" decision to destroy the cauldron. Ultimately, Usagi did not destroy the Cauldron but decided to embrace all of the sailor soldiers around the galaxy--even Chaos, or Sailor Chaos--through their star seeds, thinking that while powerful, all sailor soldiers are ultimately isolated and alone. Sailor Cosmos tells the Sailor Quartet that she had chosen the right path--but again, Sailor Cosmos did not make any decisions; only Eternal Sailor Moon did. 3. All sailor soldiers--including Chaos--were attracted to the silver crystal. This has led to a recurring battle in every incarnation of Chaos. All of her enemies were forms of Chaos--Metallia, Death Phantom, Pharaoh 90, and Queen Nehellenia. This implies that Eternal Sailor Moon's essence is that of Sailor Cosmos. The only difference here is that Mamoru tells Usagi that while new stars and sailor soldiers will continue to be born, and even if they will ultimately be gone, Usagi will live eternally as the most beautiful shining star of all. This means that Usagi will live eternally, and since Usagi has the essence of Cosmos, she is Sailor Cosmos albeit many thousands of years into the future. 4. Long ago, Queen Serenity (mother of Princess Serenity who would reincarnate into Usagi) visited the Galaxy Cauldron carrying the empty husk of a fledgling star with the same brilliance as that of Sailor Moon's. Queen Serenity stayed in the Cauldron losing her life to the oceans of the Cauldron for the reincarnation of Sailor Moon as Usagi to create a new history for the star she carried. Thus, this is the most likely story: Eternal Sailor Moon has become Sailor Cosmos due to what transpired in the Galaxy Cauldron. She also becomes Neo Queen Serenity sometime in the future after she gets married to Mamoru; in fact she is pregnant with Chibiusa by the end of the manga. She functions both as Neo Queen Serenity and Sailor Cosmos (she is already the de facto Sailor Cosmos as mentioned by Sailor Cosmos herself), though at this time, there is no need for her to transform because this was a period of peace. She ultimately drops the Sailor Moon title, most likely passing the mantle to Chibiusa aka Princess Serenity. Throughout the millennia, she continues to fight various incarnations of Chaos--losing friends along the way. Her frequent power ups help her eventually attain the actual form of Sailor Cosmos, and not just the duties and responsibilities of Sailor Cosmos. Since Usagi is immortal, she outlives all her sailor soldiers that come and go--making her ultimately alone in the universe. She grew tired of the endless cycle of wars that she had been fighting against Sailor Chaos making her question her decision not to destroy the Galaxy Cauldron. She then ravels through space-time to return to Usagi to convince her to destroy the Cauldron

Sailor Cosmos is a more far future version of Sailor Moon, like a few lifetimes later ( or a different timeline ). In the manga and the movie she also says it clearly. She comes back from the future because she’s lost and loose confidence in the future battle. She wants the past version of her-Sailor Moon to make another decision so she won’t have to fight alone and loose friends.

Sailor Cosmos is FUTURE Sailor Moon, omg. She said it herself. Naoko was just being mischievous when she said "even she didn't know who Sailor Cosmos." Sailor Cosmos blatantly said “My younger self”, she turned back the time because she REGRETTED her past only to realize that no, her younger self didn’t make such mistake. She remembered the decision she made and not the reason behind that decision and when she relearned WHY she made such decision, she broke down and couldn’t bear to continue persuade Sailor Moon to change the course of history (i.e in her eyes, HER mistake). Even in the last scene when she talked to Sailor Quartet (SPOILER) she said “The current Sailor Moon is more of a Sailor Cosmos than me. Until I can relearn that power... that power to have the courage to let go everything, and the power to have the courage to accept everything, only then I will become the true Sailor Cosmos.” In the far off future, centuries or probably milennia had passed, Sailor Cosmos had her scars, she forgot her young self’s optimism and purity, she forgot a lot of things on why she decided to do so and so. So she went back, wanting to lead HER YOUNGER SELF to another choice; to destroy the cauldron and end all suffering. But Sailor Moon refused, empowered by her optimism and purity, she told Chibi-Chibi why she couldn’t destroy the cauldron, the reason she can’t bear to destroy it because light and darkness will always intertwine, they were siblings, they were one, and when Sailor Cosmos remembered WHY she did all she did, she changed her mind and let Sailor Moon go down the path SHE herself (because she is the future Usagi) had gone down to. Same like Neo Queen Serenity, Sailor Cosmos longed and admired her younger self. She called herself a ‘coward’ because she couldn’t bear all the loss and forgot the reasons to keep going. When all ended and the stars return to where they were, Cosmos also returned to her own timeline where she would continue her battle with Sailor Chaos.

You are forgetting that Usagi as Sailor Moon (form 2) was able to meet her future self (Neo Queen Serenity). So, she can exist in the same point in time as two different versions... she just can't do that for too long. I actually do think Cosmos is Usagi... and because Cosmos is a conceptual being, the standard rules of time travel wouldn't apply to her or Usagi... that's why Chibi Chibi (aka, Sailor Cosmos - future USago ) could coexist with her younger self (Sailor Moon Eternal). The Silver Crystal does grant her immortality and its possible that Usagi retook the mantle of a Sailor Senshi at some point after being Neo Queen Serenity. Also, her powers didn't 'transfer' to Chibi Usa. Neo Queen serenity was stated to be more powerful even than Usagi in her Eternal form. Plus with the enormous passage of time... Usagi could have forgotten things and had to go back to the point when she fought Galaxia. Also, I don't think a different incarnation of Sailor Moon (one that wasn't Usagi) would know where to appear in the past and see how the battle happened. Furthermore, the manga does state that Usagi gains Lambda power during this battle with Galaxia... and Cosmos has it too and mentions in the manga something along the lines of 'the time I gained Lambda Power'. Plus, even here, Cosmos says 'I remember the war here'... referring to Usagi's battle with Galaxia. Finally, Both Cosmos and Sailor Moon Eternal literally look the same... Cosmos is Usagi with silver hair (a trait she developed after becoming Neo Queen Serenity).

And those powers were transfer to chibiusa to become the new sailor moon. but yeah its confusing when cosmos said i remember this war. I hope they can clarify all that in the movie.

@@deksroning125 also as you mentioned usagi met neo queen serenity for a few moment, but remember that when usagi, venus and tuxedo mask arrived to the future usagi felt bad because she was close to neo queen serenity. she had to come back inmediately to the past. In the case of cosmos she stayed long time with usagi and nothing happen that makes me think, but we will see what will happen

As for Usagi being near Neo Queen Serenity for a short time before being sick...I don't remember this happening in either the Manga or the Crystal anime. The only reference we have to something like this was in the 90-ies anime, and that strayed from the manga by quite a lot (to the point where its not really canon). As I explained before, Sailor Cosmos is a conceptual being... so the rules of time travel would not apply to her because she's outside the scope of space and time and can manipulate them at will - and it stands to reason she can also protect her younger self (Usagi as SM Eternal) from these effects too... or, because those rules don't apply to her, it would be like she's not really in that time frame to begin with - she's there (in form and presence), but not there (for the sake of time travel rules). Also, the stronger Sailor Moon becomes, its' very likely she becomes immune to the 'rules' of time travel. Its entirely possible that when she grew in power to the Eternal form (second powerful form to Neo Queen Serenity), the rules of time travel would no longer apply. Also, the Silver Crystal can NEGATE these effects and pierces through space and time as we saw in the manga and Crystal anime. So, yeah... Usagi IS Cosmos... she becomes/evolves into a conceptual being sometime after her reign as Neo Queen Serenity and grows tremendously more in power. I'm thinking that being Neo Queen Serenity, Usagi did grow quite a lot in power already and this was a catalyst for her evolution into Cosmos. Its possible the anime will give us a better description of Cosmos... but here's the thing... the show is about Sailor Moon... therefore, its about Usagi... this alone in itself gives us fairly good idea that Usagi is indeed Comos... just from a far future .

Yes, Sailor Chaos in official materials (it was released few days ago) is shown hovering over Crystal Palace before destruction, Sailor Chaos destroyed Crystal Palace of the future (which is considered indestructible as Crystal Palace is made from Silver Crystal). It either means that Silver Crystal is long gone or that Sailor Cosmos isn't as powerful as Eternal Sailor Moon was, despite the "upgrade". It's possible that Sailor Cosmos was Neo Queen Serenity forced to take on Senshi form long after she abandoned being Sailor Moon and forgot how to fight for everything as she did in past.

OMG I have waited for this day for 10 years, ever since I first got to FINALLY see this Arc of the original anime. Sailor Moon Stars arc never got a US release, in fact they actually pulled the manga because of this arc due to the Star Lights transformations. I got my hands on the COMPLETE original series in 2013 and have been waiting since Crystal first started coming out for this arc to be animated again. PLEASE let it be released in the US soon.

@Tython82... since Cosmos is a conceptual being, standard rules of time travel wouldn't apply to her, and she'd be able to similarly protect her younger self too. Plus the manga makes a lot of references to Cosmos referring to Usagi's battle with Galaxia as her own battle, and the time when she gained Lambda Power. I think its safe to say that Usagi is indeed Cosmos. Remember that it was said that Sailor Moon in her Eternal form is second in power to Neo Queen Serenity... so Usagi could have easily taken up the mantle of a Senshi at some point in the future and because thousands of years have passed (or a lot more), she could have forgotten a few things. It wouldn't be the first time Usagi struggled with insecurity and running away... only this time, in her battle with the dark seed being reborn as an actual senshi, the stakes were much higher and she needed to return to this point in time and see the mindset her younger self had.

@@dawndusk1007 I DONT REMEMBER that part, it suppose chibiusa comes from the future but in the season 3, outers were worried about the awakening of sailor saturn because if she destroys the world, the future would be destroyed. if that future would have been a different time line it wouldnt be affected by the destruction of usagi. Also, cosmos traveled to the past to destroy sagitarious star to prevent sailor caos appear in the future of cosmos.

actually Sailor Cosmos was the true form Chibi Chibi and could have been the incarnation of the entire cosmos she failed to stop Chaos from evolving into its final form, Sailor Chaos, in the distant future and was not confident that she could win against Sailor Chaos, so she decided to travel back to the past in the guise of Sailor Chibi Chibi and witness the decision Sailor Moon would make during the final battle seeing Sailor Moon decide to sacrifice herself to destroy the Chaos Cauldron to rid the cosmos of Chaos gave Sailor Cosmos confidence that the cosmos could be saved after all Sailor Cosmos then ensured that the Chaos Cauldron was recreated in another place without the influence of Chaos, allowing all the sailor crystals to be returned to their proper planets and the sailor scouts that owned the crystals were revived

I agree, although when I first saw Crystal it was not my favorite, I do REALLY AGREE that it gave off a more regal, manga-similar vibe that is lacking in this new version. (Although I do like this style of Cosmos better than Crystal season 3’s style). So yeah, I do wish they kept S1-2’s art style even if some of the earlier S1 animation was strange at times, visually it was beautiful and I dont like the lack of consistency of Crystal’s ever changing artstyle. I don’t totally hate this one though, and I’m still excited for this movie!
