I got mine in February and I love it so much! I didn't get a chance to get the 2014 one, so I'm glad they make another one, since it's my favourite wand from the series :)

This is a great comparison! I don’t have either of them because of their prices. I do have the Moon Stick and transformation pen/ brooch proplica combo. What bothers me is the Brilliant color is so different than everyone els, it possibly would clash color wise. With the older Proplicas being that hot pink. But I like on the red part and bottom of the staff of the Brilliant Cutie Moond Rod, it’s really pretty.

the one i got was good. the original i have has a huge splotch on the red sphere :(

The question is..which is more accurate in terms of the shade of pink to the lore?

It depends if you're going off the 90's anime or manga. In the manga, it's a lighter pink and in the anime, it's darker. The anime brightened up a lot of the colors on items/accessories (I think it was to appeal to kids and sell more merch).
