Crow was the most tragic Sailor Animamate in my opinion. She didn't enjoy serving Galaxia. She lost everything that was dear to her. She loved Siren and then Siren got killed in front of her eyes. Then she recieved a cruel death when her only real goal was to avenge Siren.

The designs for the Animamates (while being pretty questionable and a little flashy) are probably the most creative and cool villain designs that I have ever seen in Sailor Moon. Heavy Metal Papillon is my favorite, and it's honestly saddening that she wasn't in the 90's anime. But at least she'll appear in Crystal soon!

This might be long: Neo Queen Serenity never lost her ability to transform. In dream arc when sailor moon becames ESM for the first time Diana said "she's closes to the queen's power" and the only queen Diana knows is NQS. We all know how powerful ESM is so NQS is Hella powerful. Usagi evolves into her true form which NQS, the beautiful and invincible goddess who never leaves her impenetrable Castle. When she becames the Queen there was peace not for 2 to 3 years but centuries, hundreds upon hundreds of years being copped up the Palace not flexing her power. Like what do you expect her to do? Transform in SM and run around kicking jewelry thieves? Lol that's for the police to handle. There being peace doesn't give the need to transform. Note usagi can't use her power without transforming while we've seen NQS do powerful things normally, again this shows that there isn't a need for her to transform in order to get things done. She took pity on death phantom since he was human and instead of killing him decide to banish him, (despite being a threat great enough to make her personally fight him) which was her mistake since he came back more powerful. She got rusty sitting on her royal butt for so long, younger usagi would have killed him like the many others she faced, because she was a worrier and the earth was under constant threat. Hence the reason she said "after ascending to thrown I lost almost all my abilities to fight as a sailor guardian" she didn't meant she can't transform, she's just simply out of practice. Besides she did transform way more into the future because the situation demanded it turning into Sailor Cosmos.

In the manga NQS says herself that since she became Queen, she lost the ability to become sailor moon (to fight as sailor moon in crystal) And there isn't a need for her to become sailor moon, it's not her duty anymore, she has a new role as the queen. Chibiuas is the new sailor moon of the 30th century. She is the last resort I would say. She had to take care of Death Phantom because her inner guardians clearly couldn't handle him, I guess the outer guardians took their old duties too (prevent threats from outside of the solar system only) and Chibiusa didn't awake as the new sailor moon yet. Diana saying ESM is the closest in power to the queen just means that. NQS is Usagis strongest form. There really is no need for her to transformation into her solder form. As for sailor cosmos, she comes from the distant future. It is not the Usagi from the 30th century (NQS) that gets that power up. It's a later incarnation of her. She is considered to be the ultimate form of sailor moon, stronger than eternal sailor moon.

Sailor cosmos is neo queen serenity, just more into the future ik she not from the 30th century because at the end of the Manga all of them are Reborn in the 30th century.

Sailor Galaxia always knew the civilian identities of the Sailor Soldiers in both the manga and anime. She tries to kill Usagi in a public park in the manga and in the anime she shows Queen Nehellenia images of them in the park and they're clearly school uniforms. How Nehellenia also recognized them that way is what puzzles me since she only knew them transformed and wasn"t able to travel throughout the universe and secretly observe them like Galaxia did due to being stuck in a mirror for several centuries.

I really like the idea of villains being Sailor Senshi, because it causes a moral conflict. Galaxia is really badass and I also loved Crow and Siren's relationship. But as you said, it's really stupid that the Animamates don't try to find star seeds in Sailor Senshi! They even often attack men, though male Sailor Crystal owners are apparently very rare, as Mamoru is the only one we ever see. I think the anime writers didn't know what real Star Seeds are at that point, because they were treated like pure hearts or dream mirrors (as if people with great ambitions carried them). But you can explain with the theory you already mentioned: Galaxia never told the Animamates that only Senshi carry real Star Seeds, just playing with them and watch them fail. What doesn't make sense though is, that they say, the Animamates already collected a lot of Star Seeds. How would they not know that these are only in Senshi? But I still like Galaxia & Co. Both the anime and the manga show good aspects of them. Lethe & Mnemosyne are actually two of my favourite Sailor Moon villains! They were real Senshi, who just wanted to escape war and help Sailor Moon in the end. And their sand rivers of memory and oblivion are pretty cool. I wish we'd seen more of them, and also of Papillon's graveyard. I don't care at all about Phi & Chi though. xD

Chibi Moon, Pluto, Saturn and Chibi Chibi Moon weren't teenagers. Also I liked how the Sailor Anima-Mates in the anime and musicals were real Sailor Soldiers who became corrupted as opposed to simply being imposters in the manga who killed the actual Sailor Soldiers from their home planet.

I’m so happy seeing Galaxia love 😭 Her and Nehelenia are my favorite villains but Galaxia takes the cake. She’s so intelligent and she was the one villain where I felt hopeless for the heroes. I remember watching the last two episodes and thinking there was no way to win. Usage didn’t have the Inner Senshi, she didn’t have the Outer Senshi all people who she mixed powers with at one point to help her during particular battles, she only had the Starlights but they weren’t really hers and weren’t really as powerful as the Senshi. She asked Usagi if she had come to the Cauldron to throw her life into it and start a new star's history, or if she wanted to live as she was. Given the choice, Usagi said that she wanted to live her life as she was, no matter how difficult it might be, to build a future together. Guardian Cosmos granted their wish, and as they were being pulled away, Usagi asked about Chaos. Guardian Cosmos told them that Guardian Chaos and the Chaos Seed had been dissolved into the Cauldron, but could be born again.

OMG, I can't believe I missed it 🤦‍♀️ I had live chat playing while I watched it and I would like to respond to Jessica King :3 Ok, so, It was told in Crystal that Sailor Moon lost MOST of her powers after becoming queen. Yes, her responsibilitys did change, but with that also ment that her Sailor Moon days were over. She also had Small Lady (Chibi-Usa and/or Rini) shortly after becoming queen. Great job on the vid! I loved it! Can't wait for the next one! My personal Usagi x Mamoru moment: Season 5. This week my boyfriend stayed home to be with a family member. I missed him on the same level as Usagi. I interpreted the whole Galaxia not taking the seeds from the Senshi as her eternal inner struggle. Like she ultimately wanted to fail because she was in there still trying to save the world in all her evilness FROM herself by herself. Unlike all her other predecessors she did not automatically write off Usagi as weak no matter how much she says it because she knows how powerful Usagi can be.

When i saw Stars what i figured design wise she was exploring the idea of 'fetish uniforms' with the Animamates designs. remember that the sailor fuku is heavily fetishized in japan (aka) earth so that became the mold or base design for our sailor senshi. if you go outside of our solar system the base becomes something else. like the starlights design wise are leather/rubber. others use lingerie, Galaxia herself is Armor

There is something to be said in the corporate environment that the cunning person may be able to outsmart the more competent one, just like Nyanko was able to do to Crow. In a similar fashion, not every cunning person was always conniving. Nyanko’s purification probably speaks to when people were just people, starting out and naive, without playing dirty games.

CLAMP’s Miyuki-chan in Wonderland ran from in 1993-1995 in Newtype magazine and didn’t get released in the states in tankoban format by Tokyopop until 2003! So no CLAMP definitely didn’t take inspiration from the Stars arc of Sailor Moon cuz by 1993, only the first two arcs existed!

I wish that in The Sailor Moon Sailor Stars Anime from the 90s they had Heavy Metal Papillon, Sailor Lethe, Sailor Mnemosyne, Sailor Phi, Sailor Chi, Sailor Titanium Kerokko, and Sailor Pewter Fox. Also I wish that Toei had kept Chibi Usa around, because that way she as Sailor Chibi Moon would have helped the others out in battle against Galaxia, plus she could have stayed longer to spend time with Hotaru being how the other Outers were preventing them from seeing each other because she is Sailor Saturn and she was with The Death Busters. That along with wanting to see Chibi Chibi get on Chibi Usa's nerves just for fun. As for Galaxia in the anime, she is a tragic character like Sasuke from Naruto and Kikyo from Inuyasha.

Kinda unrelated, but I love how in Season 5 it showed that _anyone_ can be a Sailor Senshi. Everybody can utilise their talents and passions to become a Sailor of their own, including the men who were football players, doctors, musicians, potters, etc. Even though they were all silly and brainwashed to be evil, I still thought it was a fascinating and fun.

Yeah, but Naoko was against men being Sailor Guardians or posing as men transforming into women. Which led to end of Sailor Moon anime. Though Sailor Moon, inner senshi, and Outer Senshi didn't mind it.

@@zinzolin14 Yeah. But, if trans people had a magic wand they definitely do that over surgery. So gender norms shouldn't matter. A lot of LGBTQ people and supporters say fuck gender norms. So doesn't matter if a Sailor Guardian is male or female or trans, like Sailor Uranus stated in Crystal. My original character Sailor Sun is all for fun, who says fuck gender norms. I finished SuperS of Viz Viz Sailor Moon version, fine version. Just wish they put stars english version on Hulu already.

People said it's a girl show, and I didn't care..even screamed like a girl, tried bit of makeup. Even though actually not a transgender. I say fuck gender norms. So it feels like in my childhood"s soul was ruined when Naoko stated only female can be Sailor Guardians. Like saying Sailor Moon is only for female watchers. Feels sexist and a bit transphobic. I doubt the Sailor Guardians would be against it, and have a different view on it. That's my feel on it.

@@ryanwitwickifaddegon4291 No you're completely mistaken she said that because it's her story first of all and also because at the time there was a lot sexsit towards women, even her bosses was making fun her, belittling her, telling her what to put in and what not to, and that women should to be and act a specific way. She wanted to show in her Manga that females could also be strong worriers just as men. She has nothing against transgender or men, she simply wants girls to know that they're not weak and helpless they can be strong too.

In one of the episodes with Iron Mouse we see that there is another Animamate present in the shadows along with Seiren, Crow and Nyanko). And when Galaxia sends them to Earth, we see five lights descend. I'm wondering if this was going to be Heavy Metal Papillon? Maybe Naoko said there was one more, but hadn't given them details at the time and they ran out of episodes by that point to use her. Also, I believe the group as a whole is called "Shadow Galactica" and the only ones who are actually Animamates are Mouse, Crow, Seiren, Nyanko, and Butterfly. (and Titanium Kerroko and Pewter Fox in the musicals). Phi, Chi, Lethe, Mnemosyne (and Buttress, Theta, MC Fly, Shadow Bee, Shadow Bug and Shadow Mantis in the musicals) are just regular members of Galactica. Why won't Naoko give us more lore. We need more lore!

The two unnamed senshi that killed Kakyu are named Phi and Xi (pronounced Kai). The other two, the ones wearing the pajamas are Mnemosyne and Lithe. Mnemosyne and Lithe are are referencing to the two rivers of the Underworld. Lithe is the river that wipes/washes people's memories away. Mnemosyne returns the memories. Phi and Xi are just Greek Letters. Lol.

"leeth" or "Leethee" and "Nem-o-seen" or "Nem-oh-see-nee". They are really hard names, but I love mythology. Lethe means "Oblivion" (forgetting) and Mnemosyne means "Memory" basically. Lethe is the River of Oblivion in Hades and Mnemosyne was the Titan-goddess of Memory.

I always think it's weird that there is such a strong reaction to the Sailor Starlights disguising themselves as men in the anime, because both Usagi and Minako used transformation powers to turn into guys on a couple of occasions! I just assumed that the Sailor Starlights were doing THAT. Saying "Sailor Senshi can only be women" feels redundant, because they ARE women when they're in senshi form, and we are led to believe that their Senshi form is "who they really are".

What i loved about galaxia in the manga was that she was the direct polar opposite to moon. Galaxia discovered she had sailor powers but her planet was such a shithole she decided it wasnt worthy of her protection. Contrast to sailor moon and her own sailor guardians that Love and protect the earth warts and all. It brought forward the idea that sailor guardians werent good by nature and that they themselves can make terrible decisions or lose sight of what they fight for.

All of the main antagonists of the five arcs (Queen Metalia, Death Ghost, Pharaoh 90, Nehelenia and Galaxia) were actually incarnations of the same entity, Chaos, which is the ultimate

The Japanese characters actually say otherwise (cause you write how you pronounce it). They say "Lete" (not with an "ee" sound, but both times an "e" as in "met". And also a "t" sound instead of a "th".) Mnemosyne is right though, but at the end it's also not an "ee", but an "e" as in "met".

Can you make a video discussing the rarely discussed and known Sailor Starlight 1996 poems and individual Prologue and single songs? There is SO much hidden content and context there about their true feelings towards characters and their situation while on Earth... for example Seiya wrote "Ginga Ichi Mibun Chigai na Kataomoi" dedicated for Usagi, and his poem is directed for her as well in preparation for the big battle with Galaxia. Additionally, Yaten and Taiki also have poems and prolouge's that discuss their struggles blending into the customs in Earth and becoming idols as well as Galaxia's intent with the galaxy! it's so interesting I hope you guys check it out and further discuss it. The Sailor Stars videos you made about Mamo vs Seiya and this video are some of my comfort videos on all of KZbin, I also relate to having to watch the series with no fans around me to share it with and I'm so happy to have this content that talks and discusses so many theories in both the manga and anime sense.

The Sailor Animamates are made to wear lingerie-like outfits by Galaxia in a bid to assert her domination over them. The more “naked”, vulnerable or demoralised/humiliated they feel, the better for Galaxia to keep them humble and fearful of her. Kind of like a tyrant ruler who revels in humiliating those lesser than her by reminding them that they are essentially naked and thus powerless in her presence. Phi and Chi are allowed to cover up more of their body because they earned Galaxia’s respect to some degree.

Sorry for all the posts, I'm commenting as I watch and remember. Lethe also MURDERS Luna, Artemis and Diana, and possibly Ikuko if she was in the way back on Earth. She kills them saying how futile Moon's efforts are. It's so awful. The Lethe and Mnemosyne chapter needs special care when it gets adapted. Also, they never show the cats afterwards. I'd assume they are revived, but they are last shown as dead in the desert and they are not in the final pages where Usagi's friends are shown alive at her wedding.

I like this video of you two talk about the sailor animates from Stars. Even though I never seen the anime but I read the manga about them. I wish we could've seen the other animates and that castle from the manga to the show even see princess kakyuu in her guardian form. I think their outfits are very unique looking, I like sailor iron mouse which she's my favorite, aluminum siren and the twins with purplish hair. I think sailor galaxica outfit is amazing, it's like golden armor just like wonder woman in the WW86 movie and her hair has that ombre color. I agree the pants jump suit outfit looks better on Selena which I love. Have you ever think of pairing them with the inner scouts like mercury/siren, mars/crow, Jupiter/tin cat and venus/mouse. If I remember only 3 of the witches from S has red hair. I hope you guys do more videos like that for the other villains of each season even compare their outfits too. To the question of why didn’t the animates just attack the senshi, I have a simple explanation. When a sailor guardian transforms, they are significantly stronger than their standard human form. So, they would rather attack citizens trying to find one of the guardians than risk their life fighting guardian to animamate

I really love Galaxia too! The only reason why I watched Sailor Moon in the first place. I am not a big fan of the main character because I just find her very annoying and pathetic most of the time. In fact, Sailor Moon being written as a powerful character annoys the hell out of me. In the final eps, she did nothing causing everyone to get killed; prompting Galaxia to even call her st*pid. Because in fact she is! And later when Galaxia revealed herself to be the one sealing Chaos inside her and Sailor Moon questioning Galaxia’s solution and not asking other Guardians to help… I was like the nerve she has to question Galaxia like that. While Galaxia was busy trying to save the galaxy, Serenity was busier playing love with Endymion, killing herself and waiting to be reincarnated. LMAO that girl sure has the nerve of questioning the most powerful guardian while she can’t even handle her personal life.🙄

My Sailor Guardian name is Sailor Sun! I do wish Season 5 had Sailor Guardians upgrade, another season, and not been screwed up. So for Sailor Starlights, Naoko is against males to become Sailor Guardians for some strange reason. They disguised as men transforming into women. I find nothing wrong with that. I mean who gives zero fucks about gender norms. That's what my original character Sailor Sun is all about fuck gender norms. Sailor Guardians wouldn't have a problem with it.
