It was a emotion moment. And it was the only time in the series he didn't stay around for that season. I felt for Sailor Moon missing him a lot and never get one letter or phone call. In Stars arc Chaos how once Queen Metalia anticipated the Inner, Outer Sailor Guardians and Mamoru by having Galaxia and her minions by killing them by surprise let down their guard and take their Star Seeds and then Chaos revive them by turning them evil and attack Eternal Sailor Moon, Eternal Chibi Moon and Sailor Quartet later Sailor Moon have make a choose destroy the Cauldron or not destroy the Cauldron, if she destroy the Cauldron then Chaos will cease to exist this also cause the stars seed to cease to exist which change everything the world might end up be completely different, if does not destroy the Cauldron then everything will be restore to way it was but Chaos always comes back start a war all over again history might repeat it self but she chooses neither she choose her own path and sacrifices herself once again but then Guardian Cosmos the small but powerful guardian of the Cosmos Crystal, resided within the Galaxy Cauldron saw Usagi in the Cauldron, she was surprised that Usagi and her friends could retain their physical forms within the Cauldron. She asked Usagi if she had come to the Cauldron to throw her life into it and start a new star's history, or if she wanted to live as she was. Galaxia is better in the manga and Cosmos.

The very final and last episode of sailor moon til we had sailor moon crystal. Back then anime in the 80s 90s and even the 2000s era were the best. Mamoru should've gotten The Golden Crystal and stood as an equal to Usagi with her Silver Crystal, not to mention I wish that he had stayed so he could've had a tense rivalry with Seiya leaving Usagi just like Inuyasha and what I mean is had her conflicted between Mamoru and Seiya just like Inuyasha was between Kagome and Kikyo.

I honestly think I prefer this anime ending compared to the new one, I know the movie follows the manga. But I think I like Stars better because we got to see more of the three lights, and they were there for the final fight with Usagi! But movie finally gives me a straight answer on who Cosmos is 😂
