I work at an upholstery supply store and I wish we had a system like that. Especially for the fabrics. And I love that cutting table. Too bad my boss is too cheap and my manager is set in his ways.

Another reason why I like this company so much! Great job. I find all aspects of Sailrite interesting. Keep up the great, American small business dream, going!

Great example of the benefits of application integration. This proves that you don't have to spend a zillion bucks to have a modern competitive fulfillment operation.

Why would you make multiple copies of an Access database and send them to a SQL database? Why not just use a single SQL database for everything? That seems like a good way to have incorrect data. It seems like it takes a long time to pull an order, especially when there are multiple items on the order. Is that because you've chosen to use an Access database? Access databases are not good for handling transactions from many users at the same time.

The Access Database is simply used to organize the orders following our rules. This database was selected by Oz Development and we have no control over that part. Since it is a single user database and we need it to be transparent throughout our organization we snapshot copy it to display on monitors throughout the building. I know this is not ideal but it works very well given the database limitation. And since it is just a viewer the minute or so delay of up to date data is not an issue. The question about length of time to pull an order is entirely on Netsuite. Netsuite is not quick at grabbing the data using the webservices code that OZ created. We agree that it can certainly be improved in speed but it is still very good overall.

Thanks. So it sounds like this system is still the same as it was in 2013? Any improvements haven't been made?

The main problem with this system. If someone has a huge order of 50 different items totaling several hundred dollars, and you don't have 1 screw in stock, the entire order is stopped and doesn't ship. Because of one screw. Most companies will send what they have so people can get to work. A traveling boat stopped at a marina could be held up for several days with daily dock fees piling up while they wait for their order because of one screw. Not cool. Also, if the purchaser was told about the 1 screw hold-up, they could maybe choose a different item or remove that item. Sailrite is still one of the best companies out there. Very professional.

Yes, that can be frustrating. However, if our stock levels are correct our website will tell you that something is temporally out of stock when you try to place that item in your shopping cart. So... that should help you determine if a backordered item may hold up your order. Customers should feel free to contact us if they would like the bulk of the order shipped ahead of any backordered item, we are happy to comply.
