Im from Huesca, Aragon, Spain. Back in the year 1096, during the Reconquista, christian aragonese troops attacked Huesca in order to conquer the city and expel the moors out of it. A local legend says during the battle, when everything seemed lost for the fellow christians, Saint George descended from the skies on a white horse and helped the aragonese, who were outnumbered, to defeat the moors, killing many of them so the aragonese finally won and took the city for Christendom. Saint George is also Aragon's Patron Saint. Deus Vult! San Jorge, guíanos!

There's a nice Bulgarian legend of St George from the 10th century. An elderly pilgrim named George (Gheorghi) tells some Byzantine monks that when he was young and a recent convert to Christianity, he used to be a warrior in the service of Bulgar Prince Symeon during a war with the Magyars (Hungarians) who were still heathens. Once his detachment was defeated and pursued by the enemies. The Bulgars ran for their lives. Our man's horse broke his leg, and George fell on the ground. He attempted to run away but the Magyars were very near, so he prayed to God and his own heavenly namesake, St George, for help. The horse suddenly and miraculously recovered, and the man rode successfully away. He went back home and was later visited by St George himself. The saint told the man that his old horse will die soon, and when that happens, he must flay the once-broken leg of the animal and use what he finds there for the making of a cross. The horse died promptly and in its leg George found three iron rings which had held the broken bone. He melted the rings and forged an iron cross from the same metal. Later, the touch of this cross cured the warrior's wife from a disease. He used to wear the same cross in many battles and whenever the cross was with him, no man from his detachment was wounded or killed. Now, as an old man, George the pilgrim and former warrior gave the monks this same cross made out of the iron rings that St George had once put in the leg of his horse. The monks kept the gift and their abbot Peter wrote down the story.

À travers les siècles tu as rayonné, tu as tant apporté de bienfaits à l'humanité. Ta culture, tes inventions de génie, tes colonies, tes conquêtes ont éclairé le monde entier. Mon cœur saigne de te voir saccagée, parasitée, pillée, écroulée. Ces traîtrises, ces ingratitudes, ce vampirisme vont cesser. Nos ennemis seront châtiés, humiliés.
