Raphael, thank you so very much for a such a generous and positive review of our work. It is very much appreciated. When I came to Orthodoxy 20 years ago, Orthodox Prayers of Old England was THE Western Rite book that was greatly coveted and has graced my bookshelf and been well used in the years since then. I would never have dreamed that anything I produced would be likened to it. I began to well up when I heard you make this comparison. I truly hope and pray that this will be a blessing to all who use it in whatever capacity to draw them into ever closer union with our merciful God.

@@OrthodoxReview Thank you so very much. Oh, and if it makes you feel any better, my parish has St Melangell as our saint and even I never pronounce it correctly. The "ll" produces a very distinctive sound in the Welsh language that does not exist in English. It's a bit like "sh" but formed by expanding the tongue against the very back teeth. I'm an Englishman and I find that my Welsh friends are very forgiving of English speakers if we pronounce it as "th". So we say Mel-an-geth. Thus far the roof has not caved in.

I hope you're keeping up with the comments on this, because you really did hit it out of the park. So many people are amazed and proud of the work you've done.

@@OrthodoxReview Thank you, again, Raphael. I'm really bowled over by this. One thing that I found interesting was that the particular points that excited you were not the ones I thought would excite people. For example, I nearly didn't include the St Germanus Liturgy in the book at all as part of me thought it didn't belong in a domestic prayer book. Now I see your reaction, and I realise that, although I celebrate this Liturgy week by week, there are people who have no access to it. It's a lesson for me not to take things for granted.

I regret not visiting your parish a second time while I was in SC. Memory Eternal to our Brother Kentigern. I pray his family is well. In Christ, Raphael

The blessed chalk and the chalking of the doorpost at the Epiphany is still pretty popular in the Latin Church. Our priests will use the chalk throughout the year when doing house blessings. As probably one of your biggest Catholic fans, thank you for reviewing this book. i'll have to get this one.

I hope you a feeling better Raphael, thank you for sharing this book. Being from England myself its always interesting to read on the pre schism western texts. Just reading through the orthodox sants of the British isles. Lots interesting snippets of information in those books! Peace be with you brother.

Thank you for your review. I had been waiting for it before ordering it, and now it's on it's way--at least I have sent Lulu the demand for printing. And, please forgive me for not sending you a name day greetings. I did remember you at prayers on St. Raphael of Brooklyn's feast, so that's probably more of a thing than a FB post.

Bro that Prayer book is Massive. I think that may be a consideration as it would be bigger than my home Gospel.

First of all, glad you're feeling better. And, the prayer book ... wow ... what a beautiful compilation! Now, if someone could come up with a Mozarabic version ... 😏

I love these reviews most because I’m a liturgical nerd. I just love learning about all these little oddities. (Oddities in the sense they are unknown not odd or strange.)

God bless the staff notation integration. Mainstream Orthodox prayer books should take note. Hit me with some byzantine notation prayers, Newrome Press. Or, well, we've just got to learn the modes. Easier said than done, as always.
