First of all, I would like to compliment you on your beautiful clarinet sound and playing. I really admire you as a clarinet player. Second, I would like to ask why should this fingering here be considered 'fake', isn't it just a real alternative fingering for Eb/Bb? Even on clarinet methods (Magnani at least) it is listed as a regular Eb fingering, even though it's an alternative and not the principal fingering .

Hi Leonardo, very interesting question. I often discuss with my students about where is the limit of using alternative fingerings. Why I call this fake, because not the intonation nor the color is not optimal. Useable, a must know fingering but I wouldn’t use it as a main possibility. But you are right, this is very up to the person. Thank you for pointing this thing out, always good to discuss these things.

Or we could develop good technique and play the note in tune. I mean it's not really that hard.

You are right. This is a chance for those students or people who are not as skilled as you. I had many students in the past who were really challenged by this part and this little trick could be a real salvation for them to reach better music. You are very tight it’s possible to do it with the original. But let’s think about those people who are under your level. Thank you your comment!

@@IstvanKohan I am a teacher too and have had many students of varying abilities play this piece. I see this as an opportunity to patiently develop good technique, not to learn a bad habit. We can disagree on this one. It's ok.

Dear whoitisnot, I respect your opinion, and I 100% agree we need to develop by difficulties. But I think this is not a bad habit. Every time I play this piece on a concert I change my fingering up to the condition I’m in. If I had enough time to practice and I have big confidence to do it with the original I do it. But I’m not perfect and sometimes this little “rathole” is a real life saver for me. So I really agree with you. But for a player it is always good to know a few extra possibilities for any case. Of course maybe I’m wrong. :)
