@@dinkledankle I don't know how old you are, when I went to school, back in the 1960's and mid 70's, music class was mandatory in elementary school, band was optional for those who played or were learning to play. I am a physics student and now computer scientist who played double bass while in school. At Uni we performed the Organ Symphony. I did my best on double bass but more often wept at the beauty of the upper strings. Although I was a science student on loan to the music department, I dedicated myself to the double bass. Saint Saens' work was the most important piece of work that I remember, 30 years later. The poco adagio and the maestoso. I am a better computer programmer than a musician, but this performance reminds me of my moments in student symphony when it really mattered to get it right. These students are performing to a level impossible to imagine in my day. The land of Frederic Chopin has therefore just begun to show us the promise of music, in these students: may they all live happy careers, and entertain and enlighten us all. Love from Kentucky.

In all the several decades that I've played this symphony on records, tapes and CD by Saint-Saens (and even seen it performed once or twice), this is the first time seeing the percussion related instruments "do their thing". It was the kind of thing that the composer probably had in forefront of emphasizing : the bones of human skeletons roaming a cemetery (probably a large cemetery) for awhile in a dance. Xylophone, marimba, orchestral bells & vibraphone all are complex set of musical instruments that I am enjoying more of these past few years. There is so much potential with the instruments in literally all types of music forms. This performance of 2014 was very good. Discipline performers. For this near 70 year old man, that's good to see.

Zwykle słucham zupełnie innej muzyki, ale to wykonanie wkręciło mnie zupełnie -dzień bez niego jest dniem straconym.. :)

I am used to a different orchestration, but even though I am a middle aged man, I listened and found that I actually enjoyed the different sound. Well done, young musicians! Brava!

To me this is one of the best performances I have ever seen. Added to the fact that these are all young people. What a hope for the future of mankind!

I cant believe it. This version is completely unik. So amazing, that it takes my breath away. These young musicians play at the peak of their ability, and it is a sensation. I´ve known this music very well for over 40 years by the direction of Toscanini. Bu this version is so different and modern, so full of craft, so dynamic. The director is very brave and with great courage. Thank you very much everybody.
My favorite Saint-Saens. So beautifully played by a superbly educated orchestra. Excellent all around. And that percussion section! Countless hours of practice and coordination. So fantastic those folks. I hope they won.

Well, macabre just means having to do with death. If you’re imagining a bunch of skeletons, you’re answering you’re own question! :)

The spectacle is what makes it macabre. To hear skeletons dance... What it emotes. How you can't really look away

Великолепное прочтение. Как замечательно, что в столь юном возрасте ребята уже достигли хорошего мастерства. Отдельное спасибо дирижёру. Она волшебница

Memory is such a great thing. I was given this to do a choreography to when I was studying ballet, and I can still remember it to this day, years and years later. This is such a great version, beautifully played by these young musicians

These musicians are so young and so talented! I’ve always loved this piece since I heard it as a teenager (MANY years ago) but what a fantastic fresh interpretation and so enthusiastic and captures the intent and emotion of the piece superbly. The conduction, video and sound were first class. What a showcase piece for all involved to feel pride over. How can you watch and listen to this and not feel your heart pop with pleasure at everything about it?

Somewhere in a corner sits a first violinist feeling rather blue LOL all kidding aside what a fantastic rendition of this piece and props to the percussionists who rarely get to be Center Stage like this

Fantastic! Excellent performance. And I especially appreciated that the conductor didn't succumb to the temptation to publicly broadcast her inner desire to have a choreographed seizure on stage.
