La classe et l'élégance de l'école Franco Belge dans un répertoire parfaitement adéquate ,complètement d'accord avec un commentaire précédent , pas de virtuosité gratuite mais mise au service de la musique, cela change tout !! Un grand monsieur du violon .

This is a great recording which I had never heard. One can sometimes hear the conductor step on the podium and/or grunt but that's fine with me. Grumiaux was an accomplished pianist - he sometimes traded places (in his recitals) with his accompanist because (guess what?) she was accomplished violinist. I wish I had been alive to witness that.

I was his student @ Conservatoire de Bruxelles and not only was he terrific pianist but played everything from memory !!

My mother, who played the viola as a professional in a theatre in France, loved a lot Grumiaux. I remember she always spoke to me about him when we listened to music together....Grumiaux and also Ginette Neveu...she spoked me always of these two ! 😊 i remember very well and she also tried to help me to perceive the differences between this and that 😂 Thanks to share this marvellous, perfect, sensible, simply performance....the sound is always beautiful, gentle, warm....my mother was right ❤
