I "met" Elizabeth of Hungary after my husband passed. I should say, a couple of years after my husband passed. I started getting the, "move on and attachment is a negative thing" talks. I thought there must a Saint out there I can turn to who was "attached" to her husband. I found St. Elizabeth. Also Servant of God Empress Zita of Austria (also a Queen of Hungary). Her husband, Emperor Karl (or Charles) of Austria, and King of Hungary, was made blessed by JPII, and his feast is not his death date, but the date he and Empress Zita were married, October 21st. If that is not romantic, I don't know what is. Anyway, Zita was widowed at 29 and never remarried. Epic story, those two.

At my baptism I was given the name Elizabeth, Saint Elizabeth is my patron saint. I live only 60 km from Sárospatak, the birthplace of St. Elisabeth. (Sárospatak is a small town in Northern Hungary).

Lutheran pastor here! My father's parents came from Austria-Hungary (they were Magyars). Two of my aunts were named Elizabeth. I've been to St. Elizabeth's grave in Marburg, Germany, and also the Wartburg, where she lived until her husband's family forced her to leave after his death. Thanks for these videos.

We just bought a used bedroom set for my Child and found a card of St. Elizabeth in a secret drawer. It really spoke to me b/c she is a patron saint of the poor and our family is experiencing some hard times. I felt compelled to Come to KZbin. Thank you for your video.

Good video. I think the next saint you should do is Saint Æthelthryth of Ely. A lot of the old Anglo-Saxon and Celtic pre-congregational saints get unjustly overlooked in favour of the 'superstar saints' like Francis & Joan of Arc. My confirmation name is from St. Fabian, who became Pope when a dove landed on his head!

Saint Paul, Saint Joan of Arc, or Blessed Bartolo Longo would be super cool. Also could you make a video explaining how to do the Seven Sorrows Rosary? I tried it for the first time the other day and it didn’t go too smoothly lol.

Interesting, that story is alot different from the one i was told. I went to Budapest last spring and visited the st.Stephen basillica where there is a big statue of st. Elizabeth My hungarian guide told that the man she married wasnt happy with her constantly giving out to the poor, often he could not find her and one day she ran in to him after promising she wouldnt do it any more. She had her skirts full of Breda and she prayed god to help her not to get in trouble with her husband who were comming towards her, and god turned the bread into flowers
@MoniqueGonzalez1212 Жыл бұрын
it depends on who tells the story. Some say he was with the other nobles, who openly had a problem with her giving away food from the castle. He approached her to forestall problems with his family and asked her privately what was in the basket. When she revealed the roses in her basket, it was further confirmation for him that she was protected by God in a particular way. In other research, it is said that she had this miracle when she was still a child in Hungary and not married. Others say, this story actually belongs to St Elizabeth of Portugal who was her great-niece and namesake. So it really depends on the source historical record and tradition specific to the place. Most of the historical references show St. Elizabeth of Hungary's husband to have been deeply in love with his wife to the point where his relatives took issue with her because of it.
