Something I've noticed is if you cast Flame Lightning while you are turned away from the person you're trying to hit and turn back to hit them mid cast or as it hits, it lands way more frequently.

Fun fact, Eochaid is pronounced more like "yo-hud" :) I believe the word originates from Gaelic language. Also the Marais executioner sword is french. Marais is a french name. Do with that what you will.

my first character i beat the game with (a strength/arcane character) has been kind of in limbo for invasions but i think this is absolutely what i'm doing with him now... he even made heavy use of the marais executioner's sword during my playthrough with him so it's extra perfect

2 interesting things about bayle's flame lightining. You can actually use a spell right afterward, and the fire it leaves hard stuns for considerable damage

It’s always funny when a build you put out lines up with something I’m working on. I’ve been wanting to make a faith/arcane build since the DLC came out and added both native faith and native arcane scaling weapons, but I kept getting stuck on the optimization planning. I like this Greatsword, and its stat requirements line up pretty great for some hot swaps, but I really, really wanted my main weapon to scale off of both faith and arcane to get the most of my stats. You have shown me the error of my ways. The weapon doesn’t have to use all the stats as long as it lines up with the playstyle and moveset of spells I’m going for

DS3 was awful with how long it took to kill even the most clueless PvEs. Damage was low, and roll/Quickstep s were basically infinite. All someone had to do to bossfog any amount of invaders, or force duels to a draw was go naked and stack stamina regen. The times I had chased someone from literally the bottom of Pontiff to Aldritch's bossroom I look back on like Vietnam flashbacks.

The beast claws are fantastic on an arcane setup, especially when paired with catch flame & other such aggressive incants.

Flowerstone gavel would also be great for this build. Str/arc scaling hammer with a long range punish for the ash.

This DLC also gave us the Ancient Meteoric Ore Greatsword, for a more strength-inclined Str/Arc or Arc/Fth at a push (with physick stat buffs and talismans).

As mentioned, the pile bunker (Bayle's Flame Lightning) single cast, has a fast recovery into next cast. Following up with Bayle's Tyranny is pretty solid on an initial whiff/dodge and punishing aggression. They both have very high innate poise, Bull Goat Tali can push that further, and armor poise is not needed. As such, it's even interesting on 0-poise dragon form. It's a shame we didn't decent arc-fth or arc-int weapons.

I just went through NG+ with my Drake Knight a couple weeks ago for Bayle's other spell, and that Dragonscale Blade AoW really does wonders. Pretty decent option for most builds too because it has high base damage and fairly low stat requirements.

Love this weapon, have some great kills in pvp with it including a duo gank that had the greatsword of damnation and rivers of blood. This is my go-to weapon to clear out gankers.
