Saints camp Day 18 breakdown: Speed kills, but do the Saints have enough of it?

There’s a ton of Saints KZbinrs out there talking like they know for sure that we will be the worst team in the NFL. I have a good feeling that some of these off brand dooms day prophets are going to be babbin and splainin when the Saints do well this season!

OK, you've hit on a subject I've spent a lot of time complaining about recently, so allow me to rant for a second: One of the things that annoys me the most about the current sports media landscape is everyone is always tripping over themselves to make doomsday predictions for one reason or another. Everything is terrible all the time, because it's the emotional take that's staring you right in the face. There's this ever-present need to be right in advance as long as you have a hard-line take that can draw attention. It's easier to deal in absolutes than admit reality, which is that so much of this is a guessing game. You can make reasoned deductions and point out issues, but there's no exact recipe for success or failure and a lot comes down to luck and timing. Are the 2024 Saints a threat to go 14-3? No, not really. Can they win 10-12 games? Sure they can, if things break the right way. Is it possible that everything goes wrong and they end with 6-8 wins ... absolutely. No one knows what they don't know. I also don't think a lot of people are necessarily actively pandering, they're just feeding into the environment around them. In the end it's entertainment and doom and gloom is going to draw more eyeballs at this point, so that's what you get.

The facts are preseason football is a scrimmage and really a joke when it comes to actual plays. Half the guys on both offense and defense are missing and especially towards the second half teams are just trying things out and hoping players don’t get hurt.

As long as we knock snot bubbles outta Atlanta twice, and Dallas when they pop up on the schedule....we could lose every other game and I'd be happy lol... barring the injury bug , I expect we'll win the division 💪

Predictions are made to be wrong. Just like promises and made to be broken. It's a game for cryin out loud 😆 . Yet grown ass men get their panties in a wad over a bunch of rich people ( who don't give a rats ass about ANY of us) playing football 🤣 THAT is more entertaining than the game itself 💪🤘

Under Loomis the Saints have been their best when flying under the radar. It’s easier to clear the bar when it’s sitting on the ground. Let the media sing the rest of the league a lullaby so they can sleep on us. Double digit wins this season barring injuries and given competent O line play.

Maybe we will run a no-huddle offense at times during the season to cover up the o-line issues. They seem to be talking a lot about the two-minute drills.

You can definitely fake spike. Just off memory I vividly remember Matt Stafford (with Lions) and Dak Prescott pulling it off in games for touchdowns. I’m sure there are some rules as to how exactly you can do it tho.

The Saints need to find a way to keep WR Mason Tipton regardless of kid pulling hamstring. Reason is he already has demonstrated how good he is up to tweaking the hamstring plus he gives Saint incredible speed if Shaheed or Olave ends up getting banged up. None of these other WR's have stood out as much as Mason Tipton along with Olave, Shaheed. . The WR's should be Olave, Shaheed, A.T Perry, Cedric Wilson and Mason Tipton. They can stash Samson Nucua, St. Brown, Means & possibly Austin on practice squad.

I actually think the one guy you didn’t mention (Stanley Morgan) has a good chance to make it as a special teams ace. We’ll see with Tipton. The only benefit of him not being available is it’s hidden him a bit. Teams aren’t claiming guys they have no tape on.
