I’m happy with Miller and Hill in the backfield
@Keltek953 ай бұрын
I think Miller Bradford can beat out Will Harris. I don't know if he will but he's been showing up. But then again, there's always a player to do good in offseason activities but doesn't make the team. Dalin and Miller been making plays but only one will make the 53 and it'll be Dalin

Jeff, I’m pretty sure you were the one who predicted Kyle Sheets as your training camp MVP weren’t you? 😂 (or was it Steve? I’m nearly positive it was you)
@WWLsports3 ай бұрын
Well, the question was: “Which WR ends up being the hype train player” … meaning, who ends up getting overhyped in camp (like Emmanuel Butler, for example). I did pick Kyle Sheets bc I expected him to end up making some fun high point catches in preseason games that folks would overreact to (that’s what he does best). But now we’ll never know. If we had wil Lutz for that Green Bay game instead of groupe,, we would have won that game and went to the playoffs.. you say one kick don't matter that field goal meant everything..
@WWLsports3 ай бұрын
Well a few things. Of course one kick matters in the scope of that game. One thing I’ll say is that even if he makes it the Packers would’ve gotten the ball back with more than a minute and 2 TOs left. There’s a good chance Packers would’ve still won that game. But also, we’re talking about moving forward and that evaluation. Can’t go back and make that kick and not all kicks go in, particularly for a rookie. That’s the type of kick/situation that makes the argument you shouldn’t go with a rookie again if you don’t have to.

the only kick I cared about was the whaterver yard against Green Bay. With it we in the playoffs.

I know Bradford has been the INT machine in camp but have not heard much about Lawerence Johnson that you pegged to the PS. Has he done much in mini camp? Also regarding Stalbird, what has he done in camp?
@WWLsports3 ай бұрын
A lot of these guys are just learning at this point, so I wouldn’t overreact too much about production. Stalbird and Johnson have both been in similar roles/third team and p-squad. I just see LJ’s athletic profile as one they like to develop … a bigger-bodied safety who can come downhill and make a tackle. At the end of the day those depth PS spots are just a crapshoot, so I wouldn’t read too much into them.

@@WWLsports Noted, I just like to hear positives regarding UDFAs. I'm always a fan of the Pierre Thomas's of the NFL. Also, the fine line between finding a potential player and provide coaching to get them to the next level.

Do you know how many players the team can protect on the practice squad? Usually the preseason makes most of the cuts easy which a lot of fans don’t understand the importance of the preseason games.

@@WWLsports I looked it up a vested veteran doesn’t have to go through waivers. I guess the small way to keep a guy is to cut a vested veteran and make a handshake deal that he will come back.

Think O line will benifit greatly from Kubiak system. LB grouo is low key very good and if Kool Aid is healthy CB room can be elite. Good stuff Jeff

More production from the offense will help the defense. Way too many 3 and outs last year.

Horvath or Prentice make the Roster / Practice Squad. The winner makes the Team the loser gets the Practice Squad.
@WWLsports3 ай бұрын
Wouldn’t be surprised if you’re right. We’re still early. Could drop a LB or S and save a fullback. One way or another you’re talking about a practice squad elevation.
@TheStacanova3 ай бұрын
No offense, but what is it with media members refusing to understand WHAT a Fullback is & WHAT a Fullback does? Prentice or Horvath make the roster, there’s a good chance the other makes the practice squad, if not picked up elsewhere. They WILL NOT put Taysom Hill out there just to block, in over 30-40% of offensive plays! I can’t believe I have to explain this, but this is how Shanahan/Kubiak use a FB, it’s 30-40% of offensive plays that they are using them as blockers in roughly 90% those & it’s ESSENTIAL to making a large portion of their Run game/Play action game function. In 2023, Kyle Juszczyk played 495 snaps, 44% of the offense on the 49ers, with only 19 touches, that’s over 450 plays where his assignment is to block someone. In 2021, with the Vikings, CJ Ham, the Fullback, played 376 snaps, 33% of offensive snaps, with only 25 touches.
@WWLsports3 ай бұрын
The point is you can elevate players and don’t have to keep them on the active roster.
@TheStacanova3 ай бұрын
@@WWLsports Sorry, I was probably unclear, my point was, I don’t believe the Saints media understand how important the Fullback is in this offense & to these OC’s. While I believe you all watched 2021 Vikings & other 49ers film, I don’t believe you focused on what the Fullback is actually doing on a play by play basis in this offense & if you do, you will surely arrive at the logical conclusion that there’s no way they would leave a “REAL” FB off the 53 man roster. Yes, they’ll probably have Taysom 5-10 plays a game in the FB position. It’s not a coincidence the NFC AP FB was a 49er & the AFC AP FB was a Dolphin. If a FB gets injured on one of the Shanahan teams, they know the best FB on other Shanahan scheme teams practice squads, and they will culture them, because there are not that many REAL FB’s, with experience playing in the NFL, definitely not enough for all these teams to have a 2nd great FB on all their practice squads.

Great content. My takes: 1) Herron out, Udoh makes it as RT backup; 2) One LB you listed as a special teamer is cut and a FB makes it
@WWLsports3 ай бұрын
Both fair points. I’d tend to agree on Udoh, but we just haven’t seen it yet. As far as the linebacker/fullback … I think at the end of the day you’re just picking one who starts on the roster and one who starts on the practice squad. You could also drop Will Harris. Those last few spots could go a lot of different ways. Appreciate you watching and commenting!

Worried about O line but feel Kubiak system will be good for them, LB group is low key really good and CB room if Kool Aid is healthy might be top 5 in NFL
