DC will always 100% buy-in to whatever the current coaching staff’s message is, because he feels he has to. You can tell afterwards, what DC really thought or got from them. Words you’ll never hear Carr say again “it’s like Pete Carmichael used to say” or “Josh McDaniels always said”. DC will continue consistently quoting Gruden though, because Gruden was a good coach. It’s promising DC is comparing Kubiak to Gruden on his approach.

I’ve screamed enough at the screen enough for the past few years wondering why the hell can’t coaches (Pete Carmichael) figure out how to fkn use what works! Change on the fly! I hated the fact that they create a “game plan” and just keep doing the sh*t that doesn’t or wasn’t working. To me this is common freaking sense. Why be predictable???? It’s just insane. Our offense was always one step ahead of everyone else when Drew was the quarterback because he would practice before the season with his receivers and offense now Derek is talking about doing the same thing. That's how you create timing and chemistry it's just smart football.

This new system will eliminate losing the game because the QB choked or did this or that wrong. If we lose offensively it’ll be the coaches fault, and the onus will fall on their play-calling more than it will the QB scrambling around trying to make a play or not. It’s why Purdy was able to be successful immediately, because the rest of his offense is doing the right things, so all he has to do is throw to a wide open WR or running back. He doesn’t have to play hero ball on every play. I don’t know if I explained it well. Of course this assumes the D will do their job too.

Only thing is , our "dad's" saints offense won the superbowl. Hopefully, the new organic system is more successful than most other teams that claim to have a new innovation offensively. Not many of those teams are doing well either. Definitely can't hurt though.

It's a shame our last OC didnt work out, but I think we now have a coordinator who is willing to go into the weeds of player development and deveop comprehensive plans to use all our resources to win a game. The saints have the talent to win 10-11 games and that should put us in or very close to the playoffs.

In high school everyone was responsible for knowing their job for every play - the play call was short just the play and the count. Audibles were used ifvthe qb saw a vulnerability in the defense ‘s set. Seems crazy to have depended on calling out individual/position assignments to players on almost every play.

Carr is a pretty solid leader but gracious, too. I don't think he'd get in that type of power struggle with Winston. He knows Winston would win the popular vote easily. He's been around some colorful characters, too. Marshawn Lynch and Antonio Brown (briefly) come to mind.

@brianwilliams7123 Josh McDaniels, one of the worst head coaches in NFL history, benched Carr. How did that work out for the Raiders? They lost the final 2 games. Then, the following year, their offense took a real nosedive with Jimmy "proven winner" Garoppolo, who eventually was benched for doing far worse. They were ranked 12th in scoring with Carr despite terrible playcalling by Josh McDaniels. Carr, Josh Jacobs, and Davante Adams called out the playcalling that seemed to be akin to Martyball. After Carr is sent packing, the offense is ranked 27th in scoring with Garoppolo and ends the season at 23rd. Let me give you a quick lesson in football. To have an actual championship level team, you need at least 2 of the following 3 things. 1. A very good offensive line 2. A very good coach 3. A very good defense I can count on 1 hand the number of times in NFL history that a championship team didn't have those 3 things. The dynasties leaned heavily on those.

Because the defense is good and can be great if the offense can hold on to the ball a little bit. Without D.A. we lose that. I think great defensive coaches are hard to find. I don't care who the head coach is, but I think this combination (offensive/defensive leads) will be good match and it would suck to break it up if they do have success.
