This is like when you were celebrating in the beginning of the year and telling everyone “I told you so.” Carr doesn’t deliver when it counts. He has a strong arm but just a little pressure cracks him. Sometimes, the pressure is a figment of his imagination. He plays very well against bad teams and absolutely horrible against good teams.

Derek Carr should absolutely get an extension in New Orleans ⚜️. I think our best bet is keeping him around and drafting another young guy because I’m not so sure that we have the future at the quarterback position on the roster now.

Carr isn't bad. The bad with the Saints departed.

DC4 remains the best player on the Saints and it's not close. His contract is an incredibly high value contract. Dak Prescotts cap hit in 2025 is $89 million. Deshaun Watson is $72 million. Matthew Stafford is $53 million. If you don't like DC4s increase from 2024 to 2025 quit arguing that the Saints should restructure contracts, because 95% of what a restructure does is moves Cap hits to later years. As it stands there are five QBs with cap hits over $68 million in 2026. Hopefully for 2025 the Saints have a group of professional WRs, TEs, and backup OLs, not just random guys they found at the warehouse loading dock like we have in 2024. But those types of upgrades do require money and the Saints have a massive amount of money tied up in dead cap for 2025 (Michael Thomas, Jameis Winston, and potentially Ram and Cam). There aren't five guys in the league with better arm talent and who can throw a better ball. SO much of the hate in NO comes from the Jameis Winston fanclub. These delusional people actually think that Winston was somehow cheated out of being the franchise QB. They think Winston is as good or better than DC4 despite all actual evidence contradicting that view.. And they're detached from reality. It's sad. There is a massive overlap between the Winston fan club and the Ratt-tards who wanted THE AGENDA. They are under some delusion that there was some favoritism towards DC4 that prevented Winston from being the starter and from carrying the Saints to the Super Bowl. What's especially wild is that they're the same people who always say PAY THE MAN! GIVE HIM HIS BAG! IT'S NOT YOUR MONEY WHAT DO YOU CARE! when discussing players like Kamara, Lattimore, MT, and more but for some reason they REALLY hate that DC4 got a mid-level contract for a starting NFL QB. I'd point out the hypocrisy but then I'd have to try to explain hypocrisy to them and well, they're just not smart enough to understand the concept. Time and again over his career people have argued that other QBs could do as well or better than DC4. And time and again; Matt McGloin, Connor Cook, 1st rounder EJ Manuel, SEC darling A. J. McCarron, high 2nd round pick DeShone Kizer, Mike Glennon, 1st round pick Marcus Mariota, 1st round pick Jameis Winston, SEC darling Spencer Rattler....DC4 outperforms them all, every time. It is why its so funny to see people that think drafting Dwayne Haskins 2.0 in 2025 is going to magically unseat DC4 and lead the Saints to the promised land....Cam Ward will be out of the NFL in four years, tops.

Carr is solid . He has one of the worst O lines in the league with the injuries. His receivers are mid. No Tight End to speak of. With a solid O line and a better WR2/3 +TE he would perform great.

Unfortunately, Carr will always be polarizing. People get to emotion about him both good and bad. When he has a good oline, he can be really good! When his oline is suspect, he gets happy feet too often & gets rid of the ball too soon. He was never as mobile as he was prior to breaking his leg. I believe that affected him more than he will ever admit. What folks also won’t take into consideration is the amount of change that man has had to deal with. I don’t think you can name one top 10 QB in the league that has been through as many OC changes as him & still put up good numbers. I mean if he was really that garbage like many folks say, he wouldn’t never have been able to pass for as many yards as he has & he would have been pushed out of the league already… Welp, that’s my 2 cents

Derek Carr is an exceptional QB who got blamed for the horrible teams that the Raiders fielded. If you put a decent O-line around him, he will wreck defenses. With a marginal/bad O-line, Carr gets the happy feet and starts forcing throws and gets picked like most QB's.

After watching the video. We are 4-7 rn? Carr started 8 of those games and won 4 and lost 4? He’s not terrible. He’s mid. Mid rarely gets you playoffs. This is the most level-headed take I’ve heard on Carr. I admit, I’m probably the biggest Carr support outside of his family because I’m a Fresno guy, went to Fresno State, and a Christian. I like Carr as a person and try to be objective about how I feel about him as a player. I think the numbers back up that he is a capable QB who you can win a SB with. No, he’s not flashy like Mahomes, Lamar, or Allen, but he can pass with the best with the best of them. I think the “hate” stems from when the team loses. No one feels good when we lose and it’s probably easiest to blame the QB.

He just keeps getting better also. I’ve watched Jameis miss receivers by a lot… Carr been dropping some dimes his whole career!! I’ve seen all his games ex Raider fan!! He def needs protection most of the time. Raiders built horribly around him. Funny how fans just see his record and judge him by that! He’s a pivotal piece to getting the Saints back I believe!! I think that’s the issue Carr isn’t flashy so people thinks he sucks more than he does.

In addition to the "bench Carr/get rid of Carr/Carr is trash" delusion that has continued through even today, I'm seeing a lot of "Alontae Taylor is trash" spam in the game threads on the subreddit. These people are going to demonize him now because he's had to step up to play CB1 with the others now gone. People need to realize that Carr is not Brees and we will never have a QB like Brees again, and that's the REAL world we live in. Similarly, Alontae is not Lattimore...while Lattimore isn't a top 2 of all time in NFL history at his position, you're not just going to have a nickel corner have to step up mid season and match his production (or lack thereof if you want to look at it in terms of opposing WRs doing nothing). Lastly, people seem to think it's Carr's fault that he's getting paid so much. Blame the front office and mismanagement of the Saints as an organization for that, not Derek Carr. People have just seemed to develop a first impression and they never ever let go of that opinion. It's like if the first football game someone ever watched was the Saints Browns game, they would think Taysom Hill was the greatest player of all time. Then if we played 30 more games and Hill was consistently mediocre during that time, they would STILL be holding onto that initial impression of how good Hill was.

And yet with all the data, half the people will still say he's worst than diarrhea during a traffic jam. I still think some of the hate goes back to him not kneeling, his defense of Gruden (which the league and commentators hate), and him not being "cool". He didn't get all this flak in his first few years.

Injuries hurt the team. If they can get healthy and stay healthy for the final 6 games, they'll end the season with a top 5 scoring offense.

The local ESPN guys were talking down Carr’s expected success against the browns last week before it happened. I know most probably aren’t big Christian’s, but I honestly believe demons put words in peoples mouths to attack him. Dude performs well both in the game and for the community. My friend worked in an Oakland area hospital and Carr would be in there a ton doing charity for kids with zero press. Like the hate he gets makes zero sense.

I don't take QBR seriously; it's a fugazi stat. Passer rating I also take it as a fugazi stat. Have to go deeper into the analytics. I love Next Gen for stats. Kevin Cole is a great follow-up for EPA for quarterbacks/performances.
