I actually preferred 4 over 3. Don't get me wrong, my fav in the series is 2. However, I tried 3 expecting it to be an improved SR2 (without the gang story obviously). They got rid of most interiors you could explore, got rid of side quest cut scenes, Steelport wasn't as interesting as Steelwater, Gang Operations sucked. I also hate the fact Shaundis character did a 360. She was more bearable in 4. It was like SR3 was taking steps back. SR4 on the other hand had better humor, was over the top and stupid, I did not take the game seriously, and that's why I enjoyed the game. Maybe I need to try SR3 again, idk.

I honestly don't fully get why some folks didn't like this game or the 4th one. I felt like, they eventually HAD to do something to separate the game from being a GTA wannabe. I do agree, it IS a big leap, but they've retconned before, they COULD revitalize the series with a remake kinda along the lines of FF7, or technically not a remake, but rather go back to after the bomb on the boat and show another alternate way it could've gone. For example: suppose he survived, in a coma, but instead of waking up to a dude who got shanked on purpose to help him out, he had to handle it ON HIS OWN. No weirdness like a surprise twist he's still in a coma thing that would be a cop out, but it would heighten the reality as he finds himself on an island, then finds out what happened to Saints Row.

Because the story completely dropped what was originally supposed to happen in the first place- find and kill Dex after Sr2. Also I genuinely don't get why people call it a GTA rip-off.
