Also would like to add that they did Tadakatsu Honda dirty in this series by killing him off. Historically the real life Tadakatsu Honda's cause of death is unknown but it was very likely old age or sickness as Honda lived to be an old man. During his time as a samurai it was said he never sustained a single injury or even received any damage to his armor. Honda was both a powerful warrior and excellent strategist. When he went into battle he went in wearing a helmet that was adorned with giant antlers which served 2 purposes. First was for intimidation and second was to draw attention to himself. You might wonder why he'd wanna do this. Legend says that Honda regretted that he didn't have any scars or worn equipment to show off his battle history so he could show off the glory he brought to his army. In his old age he took up wood carving as Japan had settled down and there really wasn't need of warriors anymore. One day while he was carving wood he ended up cutting himself and started to bleed profusely. Its said he felt shame and frustration that this was the first injury he'd ever receive as it was dramatic irony that instead of getting hurt in the glory of battle he instead got it during peace doing something he did all the time.

This is an incredible juggernaut of a video, and you went into so much detail; even mentioning puzzles! I've said it before but I am so happy I found your channel, this is the kind of content I love. And you tell the story so well, I loved listening to you from beginning to end. You are officially one of my favourite KZbinrs now, cannot get enough of this. One thing that occurred to me after going through the whole timeline is how Princess Yuki just disappeared after the first game. If Yumemaru hadn't come back in Blade Warriors I might not have given it another thought, but he did and to my recollection he never actually said anything about her in that game. In a series that's so good at bringing characters back or referencing them in later installments, it feels odd that such a central figure in the first game never gets brought up again, especially with how close she was with Samanosuke. It would also be interesting to see how she grew and developed from that ordeal, what she did with her life afterwards. Probably not got enough information to do it but that is a what if scenario I'd love to see: what if Yuki came back. Maybe she returns with Yumemaru during Blade Warriors, can't see her being a fighter but I could imagine her becoming something like a priestess, learning to heal or cast magic or create anti-genma barriers. Or to stick with the world travelling, maybe she meets Luis? I think they've got very similar caring personalities so I could see them getting along, and then when he's asked to research genma she could warn him against it. Sorry about the ramble, just got stuck on a thought. Point is this video and your channel is awesome 😁
@DanishThePenguin Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! I can't express how encouraging it is to see comments like this. You're right about Yuki. Her just up and vanishing never to be seen or even mentioned again is very odd, though I do have one or two things in mind concerning Yumemaru. I really like your idea, though! The idea of Yuki coming back alongside Yumemaru/Keijiro in order to join the fight against the Genma, perhaps fueled by the horrors of what the two experienced during Warlords is a really cool concept! Thanks for the suggestion, I'm definitely adding that to the list!

Respect. I remember playing Onimusha warlords for the first time, back in my younger years. I was an obsessive gamer, and when that generation of consoles were current I was lucky enough to have a PS2, original Xbox, and a Dreamcast. I actually got a Gamecube a year or two later, but largely ignored it. Point being, I have some very cool gaming memories from then, example, experiencing the last level of Halo for the first time on xbox, the original Soul Calibur on the dreamcast, playing gran turismo on ps2. I also loved the Onimusha series, though Genma Onimusha on xbox was just a rock hard version of warlords really. Still...

I don't even know how to flatter it more besides thank you, for this video, for the explanations, for the interpretations, for everything. I really hope that someday we can still see a full remake of the series by Capcom, that would simply be the greatest thing ever, but as you said, the game is kinda cult and not so much looked for anymore, that's sad.

More than likely it’s due to the Actual RL Actors that they used for the main characters! Not to mention it was more than likely Japan’s Idol/Actor/Actress Corporations that may have copyright slammed this series! Especially with Onimusha 2 and Blade Warriors using a Dead Actor’s likeness.

He absolutely deserved a better end than to just be killed offscreen by a human Ranmaru who, let's be honest, literally accomplishes nothing else in the entire game. He either shows up to be evil and giving exposition, or gets his ass kicked whenever he tries to fight someone head on. Hell, his fight with Jacques isn't even a fight, just a cutscene! I'm at least glad that I was able to give him a more dignified end in one of my What If. He deserved that much

I need to go back through Onimusha. It was one of my all time favorites as a kid. I was hoping that the Onimusha Remaster that came out a few years ago was a sign that Capcom were gonna bring it back or at least release the rest of the series on modern consoles but so far that’s not the case. Clearly They just made the remaster as a way to maintain the copyright even though they currently have no plans to do anything with IP. Maybe they’re waiting for the Director of Devil May Cry 3-5 and Dragon’s Dogma 1 & 2 to finish Dragon’s Dogma 2 before approaching him with the idea of an Onimusha game. I mean, if anyone can bring Onimusha back it’s gonna be the guy that made the best Devil May Cry games to-date.
