The only question is could Rockstar get GTA V to run in handheld mode given it's around a 40% GPU drop off. Fortunately Nintendo have overclocked the Switch for various games to run better in handheld mode i.e. Mario Odessey, Zelda and MK11 and I think the GPU was boosted by around 20% so GTA V should run on the Switch without many sacrifices. While GTA V did run on last gen consoles the difference is they had more power to play with ie the amount of electricity they could push through the chipset. The Switch in handheld mode gets it power from a battery and as such is very limited.

Been playing in 2021 and its dramatically improved. Motion controls now exist and work great I havent ran into any real issues with framerate. It's worth picking up if you want a great sandbox game for your switch.

Game has lots of improved features now such a good motion controls and frame rate and you can even turn in and offf dynamic resolution and personally I'd say it actually looks substantially better in docked mode and it goes on sale pretty often for like 17 dollars

This was one of those games (along with Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen and Dynasty Warriors 8 XL) that I wanted to see ported over to Switch, but never thought would actually happen... and then it happened, and now I can't wait to finally get it. Hopefully we eventually get ports of the other Saints Row games, and I also hope this will goad Rockstar into finally porting over more of their games like Red Dead Redemption.

Right stick aiming to acquire a target, and using left stick aiming to track isn't that uncommon in shooting based games - if you're only right stick aiming, you're either standing still, or not strafing enough. I guess the issue might be more prevelant with people who aren't familiar with these type of games, but then it's a good skill to learn in any case.

You know, I find it very strange though that Nintendo hasn't uttered a single word about it yet in the eShop or the News page on the Switch. Makes me wonder, are they just not going to be offering a digital version of the game? I mean, im a physical copy person myself on any game that gets a physical release, but it just seems weird for such a big AAA release (especially since it's really 2 games in 1) to be only a couple weeks away, and in the Coming Soon page in the eShop they have other titles shown all the way out to August even, but literally nothing on Assassin's Creed.

If they add motion controls to this game I'll definitely pick it up, but without those added motion controls most shooters are don't feel good to play with the Switches small analogue sticks. In terms of how it runs on Switch they could easily fix that if they can (and aren't already) use the boost mode/overclock feature other games have used.

I believe the boost mode is used only in load screens to improve those - Ninty are a little concerned about heat I think. If I am wrong then it would a great little edition! Mark

I got my information from Digital Foundry and they did side by side comparisons of the three games that use "boost mode" which were Zelda BOTW, Mario Odessey and MK11. I think it's something studios need to run past Nintendo as the boost mode can really effect power drain, thermals etc etc, but don't quote me on this part.

Guess they can just do like many other games and just patch in the motion controls later on. Think it's usually fine that they prioritize performance on release date over quality of life features. Personally I think performance is pretty good, and guess they will improve it even more as it have likely been optimized for portable play first and foremost like most devs do on the Switch.

Much prefer this series to GTA which is handy as let's be honest it's likely to never happen port wise. Feel like they got burned on Chinatown wars on DS. Played through this twice, some fun alternate decisions, excellent supporting cast, funny voice acting and all the dlc included? Dang, with such a awesome soundtrack I will likely pick this up. hey, so im searching for an open world game set in a modern/future world, cuz I've played games like skyrim and I want a change. however, im only 12, so I don't think I can play games like saints row. What would you recommend? To give you an idea, ive just got borderlands, and its fine for me, just some swears which I already know etc. Edit: I don't want something like burnout paradise or that star fox spaceship game. i want something proper like saints row a true open orld

Love it so far... saints row 3 on the go is the best .. I hope more sandbox games will come to the switch 😊

I know a lot of people who liked the Saints Row franchise because it began pushing Rockstar to try harder with their GTA series, but the super outlandish stuff just did it for me in comparison to its competitor. It looks like a good port for the Switch. My nephew loves the game and he loves his Switch, so I'm sure he will make my brother buy him this game soon. Again, this series just not been my thing. I hope the next version of GTA will end up on Switch. I only see one problem with it. GTA is heavily investing in their online market for future content to their releases. Nintendo would need to ramp that up I think.

Having bought this at launch, I put it down because of the frame rate, but gladly the patch sorted it out and I have just completed it. In the end I had a lot of fun with it, and I can now see why people say it is a better game than SR2. However I loved the SR2 story and humour

Is fps better want to buy but holding back because of fps drops is it playable?

@@broskiwhyyy6373 Yes! Huge improvement from when it launched, it is definitely playable now. I had no slow downs or any noticable dips in fps. I would say it looked like a stable 30 fps, even with all the police and gangs on screen.

It's kind of easy to aim for me, I don't really need to walk to get a good aim. I just put my sensitivity up to a 100.

I been playing it, its really fun i use to have on the ps3 but i like on the switch i haven’t experience to much frame-rate. I did experience a few when playing . Like sometimes with the driving but other then that i have no complain. I been wanting to play online but my wifi kinda janky and also the aiming but other then that no sure what else. I do wish they let you change fighting style like in saints row 2
