Ok so a little story. My mother tongue is Marathi but I’m not very fluent in it due to being born and brought up in a different Indian state. So I avoided watching this movie and couldn’t understand the hoopla . I finally watched it 4 years after it’s release and as soon as this song came I felt the same as you. That this soundtrack was different and that the movie was different and better than the ones I was used to . It’s a masterpiece of course and you have reviewed it quite well in your channel. There is another essay abt the movie by the channel cinema beyond entertainment. I hope you go through it once , he makes some excellent points too.

Yes...that was Nagraj Manjule...the director... it's emblematic in the sense that he ......is showing the leading man his own reflection while sitting in a tailor shop!! I quite liked the effort that Buddy is making himself available for these small but important cultural exposures...I hope he gets to watching the movie soon. Thank you!!

ajay- atul is duo, but ajay is actually great keyboardist too , people in india are not aware of it, they havent learned music , when they create music for sairat , there were 66 tracks were created in india , most of them was on keyboard, there is company in US, who gives notation by sending them tracks , problems was indian articulation was not fitting in western notation at some , so they have create new notation style to play indian western symphony . in indian music there are much bigger rhythm sections than compared to west, if u have listen ( sairat zal ji) song , u will know what i mean , indian music practice complex styles of rhythmes , CAUSE PERCUSSION INSTRUMENTS LEADS RHYTHMS TOO ALONG WITH DRUMS ,u may see different rhythms for each line of lyrics. AJAY-ATUL WORK IN INDIAN RHYTHMS IS REALLY ADMIRABLE ! man who bring symphony to india was ilairaja , even ajay atul, AR raheman have said they been influenced by ilairaja .

The impact of lyrics is another level. It is village accent that is not a standard Marathi. This is an class divide there by itself. And still it is so refined that the lyrical rhythm only works with this accent. It is defying huge artworks of Marathi language. This accent will usually pull a unnecessary judgement. It is primitive compare to standard Marathi but it is shinning and importantly smoothly hitting the mental cord with information and rhythm.
