Exactly. If you build up your own car you know the limits it has, and that's what makes you a better driver, knowing the limits of your car. If you know you can't take a corner at a certain speed then you don't. It's just basic know how. I've spent 3 years building a skyline and I'll probably spend another 3 years learning to drive it. You can't just take a car and thrash it. You have to become one with you car, no matter how long it takes, and then you can truly drive.

Most Japan street racing take place on two-lane toll ways and yet, in the US, we see more accidents on roads as wide as four lanes...

Check the Wiki page, 360p was added after initial launch. "KZbin originally offered videos at only one quality level, displayed at a resolution of 320x240 pixels using the Sorenson Spark codec (a variant of H.263),[57][58] with mono MP3 audio."

If I could make a few educated guesses. This video was uploaded in 2007. At that time, KZbin was still in its infancy so HDD space was limited. I don't think HD video was supported yet. Its possible that affordable consumer grade video cameras of that time didn't go any higher than 480p.

+ Initial D the series will actually give you pointers and a decent understanding of technical aspects of drifting, how to measure different cars against eachother, and has the most badass races. US racing movies are about culture and hype and nothing to do with ACTUALLY LEARNING TO DRIVE

Really, 360p was already on KZbin. 480p and 720p were added in late 2008, and in 2010, 240p replaced most 360p videos made before 2009.

@LordGesior That's fine if you don't want to messing around with tuning, just be aware, a stock 2010 wrx for example isn't going to beat an even mildly modified 2000 wrx and it may even be cheaper even after modifications. And that goes for most cars under $100,000.

Trueno is right! I do get oversteer in my vw polo without using any brake. You just need to control the gaspedal. If you are on the edge of grip with your front and rear tyres. Then you can steer with the gaspedal. If you lift your gas too mutch than you get oversteer. It is difficult to control but it is possible to get oversteer in a fwd car without using your brakes. I don't know if you can call it drifting but it's atleast oversteering and sliding. :P

They use crowns in okinawa. But in Osaka, Yokohama and Tokyo they use RX7's 3000GT's and Glorias as police cars. These are no ordinary cars either, since some of them push around 550 bhp. My cousin was shocked as his R33 was nearing 300km/h and a VR4 Galant sedan police car managed to keep up with him and pulled him over

i got my R33 tuned here in canada and my tuner charged me 2.3grand to install a new intercooler, t67 turbo, exhaust, strut bars, and clutch (parts price not included). thats like 240,00yen. i was in japan 3 months ago and for that price and quality of work i got done i could have probly gotten my tour guide Kaita to do a higher quality job in his garage plus we could have gone to the junk yard and gotten all those parts pretty much bran new. and thats what he told me.

Not sure where in Japan you have been but I lived there for a while and did plenty of driving and never saw any drifting or even tyre tracks. In many parts of Japan the roads are narrow with deep uncovered culverts and there is snow for 3 months of the year in half of Japan. The roads in the video look like industrial areas on a weekend which is pretty much where people do drifting in Australia.

We're talking about on the road here, not dirt or snow. And its not that I'm against the whole concept of "FWDs sliding sideways controllably", I personally can't comprehend why some would call it drifting when to get oversteer you -need- the brake to control it, whereas rwd's entirely control their oversteer by acceleration and momentum produced by the rear wheel oversteer, and are easily more capable of getting power out of the turn.
