I've got one of those on my kit built 4 Star 40 and I really like that combination!

These .56 Saitos are just pure sweetness. Powerful little beasties they are. I have mine on a Sig Smith Miniplane. Very interesting and informative Dave.

Hey David. I just had to came here to hear this Saito baby. Iam loving this engines more and more. They are expensive but they are the best. I will risk my brand new golden edition 15cc for the Junkers. Oh yeah... Stay well my friend and thanks for posting. Cheers, Robert

Actually Robert, they are only expensive if you buy them new from a retailer. I have purchased about 7 Saito engines in the last year that I paid less than $100 for to include the gaskets and bearings to rebuild them. The used market is FULL of these engines that have many years of run time left. In many cases the ones I bought were low run time and just had a very simple issue with that was easily repaired.

Well David I would buy used one but in my country they just dont sell them. Its very, very hard to get used one here. Once you have Saito you keep it ;) I would never sell any of mine. Oh yeah... Cheers, Robert

I have the same engine in a Goldberg Anniversary Cub and it is perfect. Only hitch is that it is very hard to land even with the lowest idle - so the solution is to line it up and kill the engine! Works a treat!

Well I need to tweak the low speed a bit more. I am sure you could get your idle down low enough to land it slowly.

The idle seems to be high, is this normal?

I wasn't tuning the idle on this run, but 3060 isn't too bad. Just the first run to verify operation, fine tuning to be done at a later time.
