I don't really understand the translation of "Blow Up" does it mean "getting flamed" or criticized? I see the kanji on the thumbnail is flame and up, but usually Blow Up in English slang means to get popular.

in japan, "blow up" means "criticized" as you say.
It's very sad to me how much western twitter goes to witchhunt Japanese artists for things they decide are "problematic".

True. While obvious racism should be avoided regardless of where you live, I think these days the amount of westerners who overreach others' freedom have been increasing, and I'm not a fan of that vigilantism.

When they most likely do the exact same shit they call problematic what US twitter don't wanna admit is they dont actually care about what they think is good or not, they just care about how people see them, and calling out people for literally non existent problems only serves them to feel better about themselves

It's sad that most of the issues of blowing up negatively on Twitter from this video are because of Western anime fans. In the west people complain about anything, from drawing color too light, facial features wrong, sexualizing female characters, drawing "underage" or young looking fictional characters in that way (even heard statements such as "all anime is pedophilic" because of young features so it relates a lot to this channel)... Ironically, from my personal experience copying another artist pattern which is the #1 controversy in Japan, is defended at not an issue outside of Asia. It is social and moral things that matter in the west. It causes so many problems because people enjoy watching the trouble that unfolds from attacking popular artists that in the end, Western artists are advised to ignore public opinion. I agree with sensei's view on not causing discrimination, but be aware that there is no way to please western audiences so you have to draw a line somewhere and I hope Japan keeps that in mind too.
@@マイ-o2k good for you. Don't pay attention to any feedback on your art if it's about societal and "moral" issues rather than your art skills. Hopefully if we ignore them and stop appeasing to their demands, the art community passes this dark era westerners enforced on all of us.

Yep that's what we are, land of the free LOL. We are free to leave hate comments on other people's social media and bully them on network, free to call other people names and accusing them to be a "pedo" just because they drew a boy character wearing shorts, we are free to hurt other people's feelings because we are "expressing" ourselves and being the "hero" who will stop all "evil". There are many many things we can do freely, and yet we are not free to draw what we wanted to draw without getting hurt by these bullies, especially when our drawings are not harming anyone. We are only "free" and "free" alone, but it doesn't mean we are understanding, nor does it mean we can show acceptance, and be unbiased. We are always bias and judging people as we stood on the moral highground. That is the truth, and yes I agree with you, it is truly sad.

it's sad that real issues artists should worry about are AI, imitation and plagiarism; but the art community blows up about western racial problems and unnecessary "de-sexualization" of beloved/pretty characters. It's just very sad...

Here is the thing: The people who yell at you on Social Media generally tend not to be representative of your fanbase. You have to keep in mind that they are a tiny minority who tries to appear louder and more influential than they are. Because they want to intimidate you to do your art along the way they consider morally superior. They want to force you to "do what I want or else!" Meanwhile most western fans actually don't mind and not participate in those "struggling sessions". Most western fans like anime and manga because it is so different and unique from drawing and storytelling in the west and listening to this vocal minority might put you into a position where you lose sight of what makes your art or you story good and unique in order to appease the loudmouthed "political correctness"-crowd. In short: Keep being you. Keep doing what you want to do as an artist or storyteller and do not let yourself be intimidated by people who are not your fans. 👍
