No doubt it’s beautiful, but that’s just it. Plot plays a major role in the success of a show and the plot of the show is pretty weak, predictable and basic. On top of that, many great actors weren’t given more screen time just to give the Nepo actress all of it. Hence the criticism.

Some of these KZbin reviewers are biased & motivated. Not everyone bears the same opinion. Many of us liked it very much. Its trending no 1 on Netflix in India & is on top in many other countries and it received 7/10 on IMDb. It could be perceived as slow & predictable but overall its a very good series!❤

@@Wasabijo593 Well it might've imperfections, but one of the most important aspects is that it deals with the often ignored topic of Tawaif's contribution in the India's freedom struggle which people are very unaware about. This series would change that ignorance hopefully!

Sanjay Leela Bhansali has the knack of presenting the old songs with Grandeur and make it look beautiful. He has done it previously also with song like Albela Sajan in Hum dil de chuke Sanam and made it's grand version in Padmavati .. Heeramandi Series is well crafted and made with precision. It's his masterpiece and he deserves an applaud.

What is a traditional Indian from singing

It’s North Indian ‘Hindustani’ style of classical singing and the dance they’re doing is called ‘Kathak’. The show is set in pre-independence India, in the region called Lahore which is currently in Pakistan.

The singer is singing a 700 yr old traditional Braj language (I suppose) poem written by a Delhi based poet Amir Khusrow. Its Hindustani Classical Music style while the dance is celebrating the advent of spring (Basant Panchami) in a mixture of folk dance & Kathak (a north Indian classical dance).

@@Wasabijo593 Yeah brother, the place being shown is Lahore, but this series is duly criticised for portraying Lahore more like Lucknow & for literal absence of Punjabi influence. Actually the native language of Lahore is Punjabi so it was supposed have a marked Punjabi influence on culture & language. Urdu though widely spoken in Lahore is not even native to Lahore (Urdu is from western Uttar Pradesh not Punjab). If we see pictures of some of the Tawaifs of Lahore they look somewhat culturally different from what had been depicted in Heeramandi series.

@@Wasabijo593 Yeah that's also true. The only point is, such cinematic error makes portrayal of Heeramandi & Lahore look less authentic. Lahore & Lucknow are very different culturally and they should be shown with their respective distinctions. If Lucknow is being shown in the name of Lahore then its an injustice to the identities of both the cities!

I v just finished the series today. I would say it's a good series but not outstanding or masterpiece of slb. I feel Alamzeb ruined half of the series. The beautiful love story slb wanted to create just spoiled bcos of shermin. Such a beautiful love story didn't creat any impact as its never felt they were in love. Neither she is beautiful nor is talented. It was really irritating and disappointing to see such an important role ruined by one person. Otherwise it would v became a masterpiece.
